The entry fee was super expensive for what the bar offers, there was no sitting and aside from the 50 dollar fee they auto added a 10 dollar gratuity fee without asking or mentioning it. Terrible experience.
I was really excited about going here. I was disappointed. The service was slow and it wasn't crowded. The drinks were only poured to half full and they weren't good. The food selection didn't make any sense and wasn't the best. I was thinking was a speakeasy but it's just a dimly lit bar that could use a makeover and a new menu.
We only enjoyed drinks here, didn't have any food, but the service was great and the drinks were unique! If you're an adventurous cocktail drinker, you'd love this spot!
This is a beltline speakeasy with different djs and themes each night. I love the musical variety and the cute decor on the inside. Great for a night with friends or a date.

Nice atmosphere inside. A good speakeasy feel and lighting. They had food but we didn’t try it. The mocktail wasn’t impressive though.
Our experience at the James Room was fair at best. Our assigned server seemed too busy to even acknowledge us when we arrived at our table. Eventually, we were served a menu and waters AFTER having to ask and get the attention of (maybe) kitchen staff coming from the back door. The speediness of the bar was superb. Our drinks and food came at a reasonable time. The mini cookie skillet and cheesecake were underwhelming in taste.
First off, Annie the hostess is top tier; she was accommodating and had a welcoming attitude. When we asked to move to another area of the lounge, she made the transition smooth. Our bartender, Marques* was charming and knew what he was doing behind the bar. (*I think that’s his name. He wore a pearl necklace. Please edit his name if the owner responds.) My favorite thing about this sexy & grown lounge is the sound of the music; it’s not too loud, making it easy to converse with others. Make a reservation if you can so your wait is not held up. I can’t want to go back!

Annie was very accommodating and made sure we could all enjoy our time together. I’m not from Atlanta and it was a pleasant surprise when she allowed our large group to sit together. Would highly recommend

The aesthetics were great! DJ music was too loud to talk to your table guest which caused other patrons to be too loud as well. If it was softer, it would be a good vibe! Food was not seasoned (Korean BBQ Wings and Mac n Cheese topped with Salmon). Drinks didn't have a good mix of alcohol and juices in them. Service was good though, so the auto gratuity was worth it. Probably won't return though😩

A successful speakeasy is a carefully crafted recipe. Attributes such as stellar service, attention to detail & a moody experience are key to unlocking a feeling of exclusivity in a place everyone is welcomed. The James room is slipping. The first red flag is the cafeteria style signage that reads “Please wait here to be seated”. The next red flag is the sheer decibel exiting the entrance door. You ask yourself “Am I going into a club or a moody cocktail lounge”. Service is slow. Drinks are slower. A bouncy & friendly server will take your order on an electronic device as if you are at a Chili's at the airport. Again, highlight the experience. Build a story. Romance your brand. While a dj is appreciated, a lower volume would be appreciated - so you can engage in conversation with your party. I'd probably return if they end up on the Seated app, otherwise it's child's play on the Beltline.
Rude host, looked at us with disgust and pushed us to the side to pass between us. Expensive place to have that kind of service.

We were at the business tonight and they charged us for 6 peach cobblers instead of 3. We didn't notice until we had left the restaurant. We called but no one answered the phone, probably due to the noise. Can someone reach out to me regarding a refund? Also, I didn't like my drink so Mr. Jonathan offered to remake it(I did not ask him to remake it and I only told him I didn't like the drink because he asked if I liked it). He charged us for both drinks. Being charged $16 each for non alcoholic drinks is a rip off It was a table of 4 right in front of the DJ booth. We had a reservation so you should be able to look up the table, reservation for 830 for 5( but we ended up with 4)
Service was good but there were obviously two waiters putting the same orders in.
I was going to delete this is someone reached out, but no one has. And I hate it because I really wanted to go back.
As I come back here to look at my review from time to time to see whether the business has responded, I get more and more upset especially with Jonathan claiming he was studying theology and dropping the Christian word on us.

Not typically one to leave negative reviews unless severely disappointed with the quality of food or highly inexperienced and unpleasant service/staff. In our case it was the latter - the hostess and floater hostess were flat out rude, had condescending tones throughout her interactions and simply did not know or have the autonomy to make any decisions. This is indicative to lack of training, and/or simply innate rude personalities. We asked for a manager but were told it’s Jonathon ‘can’t remember his last name’. There are many other options along the Beltline support those instead. Thank you.

Took my mom, a vegan due to medical conditions, here a few weeks ago for her birthday and they gave her a chicken pizza. When she called it out first the waiter said they didn’t have a vegan pizza, it’s on their menu, then he was like “so, you don’t want the chicken”??? It took an extra 20 minutes to get the pizza but in between that time re requested a paper menu to get more items, he said they didn’t have paper menus, they do. By the time the pizza came we were ready to go and said we were sending the pizza back. The manager came and said well “well I’m a vegan too but sometimes I eat chicken”??? As we were walking out, I tried being nice saying “hey, you may want to be more sure of what you’re giving people because they could be sued.” The waiter: well I’m new(??). As we walked out the, black, waiter said this is why he doesn’t like serving black people 🙂↕️
