We booked a reservation on OpenTable for an evening time, but upon arrival, we were told our reservation wasn't available due to a private event and that OpenTable shouldn't have allowed the booking. The staff mentioned they had called to cancel earlier in the day, but I never received a call. They did offer to accommodate us later that evening, so I confirmed they had the correct number on file before leaving. I did receive a text message afterward, and we returned once they called us back. However, when we arrived, our table still wasn't ready, and we were asked to sit off to the side while they prepared it. Throughout the visit, the staff seemed disorganized and unsure of what was happening. We ended up having one drink and deciding to leave due to the overall confusion and poor experience. Unfortunately, this visit left a negative impression, and we're not sure we'll return anytime soon.
I personally didn't order any food, but the ambiance was incredible! It truly set the mood. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. However, it did take a while for our drinks to arrive, and they were quite watered down when they finally came. We were understanding, though, since it was their first day. When I asked the bartender to remake my drink, she responded swiftly and efficiently. The management was also very responsive and took our concerns seriously. As a result, we had a wonderful and enjoyable rest of the night. I'm definitely looking forward to returning to this place! However, I would like to suggest a drink runner
This spot is tucked away on the beltline area. Very nice Atmosphere, music..DJ. kitchen closed early?! So we couldn't sample any food. But the drinks were spectacular

The James Room is a beautiful hidden gem. The ambiance 10/10. The food 10/10 AND I loved how active the chef was. She interacted with guests, brought out the food, and added to the good energy in the room. The DJ was doing his thing! The entire experience 10/10!
to my wife there. didn't really review the place just looked at the pics. vibe didn't match the pics but we are an older couple. more of a younger feel to me
The DJ's playlist was incredible. More than 2 or 3 Afro Beat tracks would have been a plus. Service could have been a bit better. There were only two active servers trying to cover the entire room.
I had a great time at the James Room. It was my first time there and I will be back! The crab cakes and craft cocktails were amazing.
The chef Jalliea (sp) was so kind to indulge in our questions and greet us. Her attention to detail, expertise abd passion for cuisine and the over all fine dining and expansive knowledge was amazing. I will definitely be back for the kale salad w/ salmon and the broccoli was to Die for. The staff was welcoming accommodating and the bar tender owner and chefs ...Black excellence at its finest. I will be here every chance I get. My sib loved her drinks and overall cute quaint Solar return celebration!
Although it is small, it had a sexy vibe. The atmosphere was very grown (30s - 40s). Drinks/bartendenders were great and the music was smooth hip hop, r&b and classics. I think I found my new spot!

Nice ambience...but cocktail menu and service were very underwhelming, leaves a lot to be desired....
The vibes are realllly cool at the James room, really great hidden speakeasy spot. Great for date nights and nights out on the town.
Tucked off the BeltLine, The James Room is my go-to speakeasy in Atlanta! Cozy, dimly lit vibes with plush seating make it perfect for a relaxed date night or catching up with friends. The cocktails are handcrafted and bold, and they even serve tasty light bites like flatbreads and charcuterie . What I love most? The secret entrance through a faux bookshelf. the music adds just enough energy without overwhelming conversation (especially early in the evening) . Highly recommend grabbing a table early for the best experience!

Pros- The spot is definitely ornate, made to feel as an exclusive, intimate lounge. The music was spot on, thanks to DJ, giving life with every note. The Harissa shrimp was seasoned just right & the Espresso martini tasted awesome. Cons- I ordered another drink- pineapple + rum + something else. It tasted watered down. I sent it back & noticed another person had ordered the same & sent their's back. Perhaps, the soda was flat, or they mistook the rum for something else. Two others in my party ordered drinks & waited 40-45 min for them. The place was packed and there was only Jordan, who warned us to be patient, but acted like an angry addict when settling the bill. Initially, he attempted to charge me for the watered down drink + my friends drinks. The bartender was a black young lady & made sure to take cafe of the entire room, as she revealed to us that Jordan didn't tell her the drink order. Overall, I believe if the place was fully staffed, most things could have been averted.
Went to James Room hoping for a good time, but had a really disappointing experience. The server took our order and then completely disappeared — we had to chase someone down just to get our drinks. No one apologized or acknowledged the delay. Extremely poor service. Definitely not coming back and wouldn’t recommend it.
