Wonderful atmosphere and great food. Went for the oyster happy hour and stayed into the full dinner service. My partner and I loved the lobster roll and the half chicken entrees. The drinks were good and our server was attentive and provided helpful recommendations. The only possible downside is that the table we were sat at by the large windows in the oyster bar area was a bit cold as there was a draft coming off the windows and it was a cold day. However this was such minor negative that we wouldn’t even think twice about it when deciding to come back. Overall, phenomenal experience and would love to return the next time we are in the area!

This was our second time at Optimist. Enjoyed it a lot. We had octopus and fried oysters for appetizers. The octopus was delicious. Oysters had too much breading on them. For dinner had the lobster roll, sea bass, and swordfish. All was good. The bottles of wine were pricey.

I don't know if I've ever experienced better service, ever! Kelly was the absolute best! She anticipated our needs and stayed attentive to our table for the duration of our dinner. We ordered the smoked fish dip, kale salad, octopus that was flash fried, butter burger, steak fries, and dinner rolls that were obviously baked in heaven! All of dishes exceeded our expectations to the point where I need an excuse to go back and try more from the menu!

Waiter had way too many tables. Took forever to get things and especially the check so we could leave. It was SO LOUD in there you literally had to shout to hear one another. Even the wait staff had to shout. Definitely not a relaxing dining experience. Oysters were good, some on the small side, though. Bread was good.

Traveling from out of town and the optimist was recommended by a friend. It was truly outstanding. Started with oysters, then the smoked haddock chowder, and then the blackened red fish. All paired with their creative and fairly priced wines by the glass. the oysters were fresh and delicious and presented in a way that you knew where the oysters you chose were from. Great service, and great ambience. A little on the loud side for me but overall a five star experience

Seafood spot that feels bright, modern, and a little coastal. Had the wood-grilled snapper with lemon butter — flaky, smoky, perfect. Service was sharp but easygoing, music soft enough to talk. It’s the kind of place you walk out of a little lighter, even after dessert.
