If you have fond memories of The Vortex, don't go back. We went on a friday night around 7pm and there was no line, we were sat immediately. Food took at least 30-45 minutes to arrive, tots were cold, burger was bland.
All the magic is gone, and the food is just Taco Mac on a bad night. Super disappointing. Server was great, super attentive, drinks were fast, but the food was not it. The only redeemable menu item we did have was the pickle spears.
Won't be coming back. RIP to an Atlanta icon.

The food is as delicious as it looks in the photos. Everything was super fresh and tasty. The menu was a bit overwhelming because there was an amazing variety of great choices. The pickle chips and the plantains were not cooked in the traditional coins, the food was way better! Even the ranch was spicy ranch.
My daughter the food journalist was with us and she said, “Ten out of ten, would definitely recommend!!” as we headed to the car. The atmosphere was also great. On a final note, the building is much bigger than it looks at first glance.

Sad to share that after the new owner (Taco Mac’s parent company) have taken over the Vortex has lost its luster and good food. We expected Friday night at little five to be packed but the restaurant was only partially full. Even with less tables filled it took 30 mins for us to get our orders of basic burgers with no changes and tots which were barely luke warm when they hit the table. The burgers were incredibly mid. If you are coming back to enjoy the Vortex of old, you won’t find it, you will find a Taco Mac with a skull on it.

Great hamburgers and vibe. A very busy spot on the weekends. Be prepared to wait for a table to turn over.

We believe the waitress (young, dark hair, curvy) on the early evening of 10/26/2024 stole my husband's credit card information and spent $700 at "La La Land" Decatur, GA. We were only in town for 2 days and this was the ONLY place we paid by cc where they took our card away from the table. So best to avoid using cards here or pay with cash. I will be filing a police report. I was not able to get in touch with the manager.

Definitely had a good time. The bartender was very friendly. I had a burger and it was really good. Drinks were on point as well. I will definitely go there again.

I was recommended to come here and it didn’t disappoint. Great burgers. I got the chili Mac burger (half shredded beef/half turkey chili) with spicy bbq sauce and it was delicious. My wife got a cheese burger. The plantains were delicious too. They were soft and sweet a perfect addition with my meal

The food is great; However, I have been several times and they have always shown that friendliness is not their strong point, but the last time they outdid themselves: they warned me that there was a half hour wait, so I armed myself with patience and waited. After politely requesting a table several times, after about an hour and a half I saw that they were seating 4 people who had just arrived (the place does not accept reservations, and there were 5 of us). I think that after this experience they will never see me again... I think that the quality of the food is important, but courtesy and fairness towards the customer are more important

Last night 5 people went to the Vortex. They gave us half an hour to wait, the point was that after more than an hour of waiting in which many groups of 3 people were seen coming out and from time to time we signaled our presence in a courteous and kind way we saw each other step over within five minutes from a group of 4 people (and I underline this place does not accept pretonations) obviously we politely asked for clarification, and the answer was that they did not manage tables for 5 people... So we left indignant without that they have us given a table. If they couldn't give us a table, I would have liked and appreciated that they would have said so immediately without making fun of us all that time. I had already eaten here and I can't deny that the food is good, but without respect for the customer I will never set foot there again and luckily in Atlanta there are many other Bars & Grills that do excellent meat and burgers.

Good place. Good prices. The ruben is great. The area isn't but it's safe.
