Vibrant atmosphere with great Japanese bites and sushi! Quick, accurate service, and the three fairly easy, free parking options are a plus.

-Crispy Rice – 4/5 (the rice was more chewy than crispy, but it still had great flavor.)
-Four Seasons “Shiki” Roll – 5/5 (for a roll, I love that you can really taste the freshness of the fish. It’s not masked by heavy sauces or tempura)
-Pickled Plum Onigiri – 5/5 (tasty and am thankful you get two per order!)

I’ve been to Wagaya a few times now and have been impressed with the food. I haven’t had a bad item. I recommend the eel or ramen. Everything is reasonably priced but the service is just above average.

My experience at Wagaya – Westside was really enjoyable overall. The food was phenomenally packed with rich, authentic flavor that truly stood out. The service was simple but efficient and friendly, which kept everything running smoothly. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and beautifully designed, even down to the bathrooms, which were thoughtfully decorated with unique animal-themed artwork and stories that added a fun, creative touch.

The only downside was the menu pricing. When choosing between pork or chicken, there’s a $4 upcharge for chicken, even though it’s one of only two protein options. That feels misleading, and it really should be clearly stated on the menu in bold so customers are aware upfront. Transparency matters.

Overall, I would definitely return because the quality of the food and the ambiance were great but next time, I’ll be sticking to the veggie ramen.

Sushi is decent but the quality isn’t great. Ramen is good but not great.

If I can give 0 score or negative score I will definitely list here.
Today I had the worst experience of service in my entire life with Brandon N. He left most of the debris of fire trash on our food, our water, and our desk. And left us a few pieces of paper to clean the mess caused by him by ourselves. The owner of this restaurant should definitely promote him to replace the owner instead because he is the one who gets our service for today. Very interesting place and people in this restaurant! I will never visit here again! Attached is the payment proof for today.

I was super excited to try this place and ready to have authentic Japanese food but my curry donkatsu was very disappointing. No carrots, no potatoes, or any meat in the curry and the top of it was already congealed by the time I received my plate. The donkatsu portion was disappointingly small too. Super sad that it didn’t live up to the hype :((

We ordered two drinks, takoyaki, a sushi roll that had soft shell crab (the name escapes me), and the 13 pc sashimi. Everything was absolutely delicious. The sashimi didn’t have a hint of fishy taste, it was fresh and buttery. Our waiter was kind and the perfect amount of attentive. For $86 including tip to get great quality sushi and delicious drinks, I think that’s a bargain. I’d come back.

We have lived in Japan, so we visited with high expectations after reading the reviews.
However, the nigiri was very small, and the chashu in the ramen had a strong pork smell. The tempura batter was too thick, and the vegetables were undercooked.
We hope the restaurant will improve and offer food that truly lives up to its name.

I like our waiters and the vibe of this place. BUT! Their food is prettier mid, espresso the rice and udon curry. They are too salty! The tempuras are very greasy not sure why.

One of the best Japanese spots in town! Good food and great atmosphere, the servers do their best and are very attentive. The stares from the counter chefs were a bit awkard at times but I bet they are only curios and have the best intentions. The food is on point just like how you would want your Japanese dish to be. The variety of selection is amazing. It’s a shame that their cheapest beer is 9 usd which we found expensive, but great work with the dishes 👍 We got the ramen and gyudon set dishes, all tasted just like we would like them to be, having lived in Japan, we’d like to believe it’s very close, if not actually, the original taste.

Wagaya is a worthwhile stop for Japanese if you’re in Atlanta. I visited Japan a few months ago and fell in love with everything, especially the cuisine. In particular, I developed an affinity for katsu/curry. Wagaya did a great job of capturing the taste of authentic Japanese food and the atmosphere. I will gladly return here.

Came here last night for dinner. Our server Brandon was great and made sure we had everything we needed during our dinner experience. I had the Matcha Latte, and the Ramen +2. The food was delicious and the Ramen was some of the best I’ve had in a while. Loved the ambiance and the staff. Give this place a try you won’t regret it!
