I’m extremely disappointed. I thought I had finally found my go-to place for the next few months while I’ll be traveling in and out of the area for work. I even had next week already booked.
However, when I attempted to add a night to my stay for tonight, the woman who claimed to be the manager — and refused to provide her name — didn’t even ask what I needed. Had she taken even a moment to do her job, she would have learned that after a long day I was simply trying to book an additional night. Instead, she dismissed me without the slightest effort to help. It was one of the most unprofessional interactions I’ve ever had with hotel staff.
I’ve never encountered someone so unwilling to assist a customer. Instead of providing basic service, she pushed away someone who was ready to be a loyal, returning guest for months.
My expectations are low at this point, but I would like to be contacted by senior leadership. This situation was completely unnecessary, extremely frustrating, and reflects very poorly on the property.
Excellent location. Interesting history.
Christian was great.
We loved our stay at the Kimpton! Particularly Robert and Edward were helpful and attentive.
Good location and F&B options.
After a long day on the road, Rachel at the front desk was just tremendous. Every request I had was handled without hesitation, even while she was clearly busy. She had hot cider ready for us, took great care of everything, and was kind enough to upgrade our room after a small delay. Just a very kind, thoughtful experience all the way around.
The people are what make the hotel business, and Rachel made that obvious tonight. We’ll definitely be coming back, and I really want to praise her for her hard work and incredible attitude.

Thank you for your response. While I appreciate the courtesy, it felt generic compared to the details I shared. True luxury is about more than amenities—it’s about creating intentional experiences that make guests want to return. My stay missed that mark.
I would encourage Kimpton to consider stronger accountability measures, even secret shoppers, to ensure the service matches the brand’s promise. I would be open to collaborating in that way myself, because my goal is not just to critique but to see your team succeed in delivering the excellence guests expect.

👉 This strikes a balance: it communicates your disappointment clearly, but in a way that will resonate with future guests (and pressure management to improve).
I checked into the modern Kimpton Sylvan with curiosity 👀—normally, I’m loyal to my “home away from home,” the InterContinental Buckhead, but the rooftop + new restaurant combo tempted me to switch it up.
Check-In: Easy, breezy. The front desk did their job without fuss. ✅
Room #1: …oh, where do I begin? 🤦🏽♀️ The vibe was disorienting, the bed lumpy, and the goose-down comforter felt like it was stuffed with…plastic? 🥵 I overheated all night while random phantom phone rings echoed from somewhere below. Sleep = zero.
Service Save: To their credit, the staff texted to check in and upgraded me after I shared the truth. 💌 The new room (an accessible suite) was spacious, better dressed, and thankfully saved me from what felt like an awkward jail cell.
The Betty (Restaurant): I had high hopes. The space is cute, intimate, and gave “waiting to be discovered.” But then the food hit the table… The half chicken? Dry. As my childhood rap lyrics say, “the chicken taste like wood” 🎶. Lentils undercooked. Polenta = plain grits with no soul. 🥲
💪 Enter Cody, aka Superman. He swept in, removed the sad dishes, and single-handedly saved the experience.
Rooftop: I rallied some family for what I thought would be chic rooftop vibes—but instead, surprise 🥴… a full Bacardi party. Drinks? Meh. Service? Below average (again, except Superman Cody). Bar food? Didn’t match the aesthetic.
Overall: Seamless check-out, smooth flight back to Seattle ✈️—but honestly, the only reason I’d ever return is if Kori (management) personally reached out and told me they redid everything… except Cody. Keep him. 🦸🏽♂️
Kimpton Sylvan, Atlanta deserves points for effort, but until then… I’ll stick to Buckhead’s finest. 💼✨
Rachel greeted us with warmth and professionalism. The hotel is clean, rooms are cozy, and overall space is welcoming. Would stay here again! Shops and restaurants are in walking distance, but great places like the kimball house are a short drive away.
Great hospitality, highly recommend!
Great hotel, rooms are nice, staff is super, the on site restaurants are very good also. The hotel is about 2-3 blocks from numerous eateries and coffee shops.
Close to Buckhead village just steps away from shopping and great dining places. Safe environment, low noise/chaos. Hotel has great aesthetics and is very clean, organized, and has great cozy touches. Rachel and Mega were great at the front desk and quick to respond to any needs, and very friendly
Update: the manager has reached out to me and reversed the charges. It was still stressful but at least they were finally responsive.
Terrible billing experience. I have 5 different charges from the hotel on my credit card that are incorrect. I was not able to resolve them through the hotel or through IHG. One hotel night has caused too much stress. I have never had this experience before. Other friends who stayed at the hotel also found that they could not resolve fairly simple requests. I would think again before staying here and if you do, check your credit card carefully for errors and extra charges.

My husband and I have now celebrated two major milestones at this hotel - our engagement reception at St. Julep rooftop and now our wedding at Kimpton Sylvan. Returning for the wedding felt incredibly special. Despite having a 3-week turnaround, the staff exceeded every single expectation.
Huge thanks to Akeem, Madalynn, Kourtney, and Tiffany, who handled everything with such care and professionalism. They felt like family helping us coordinate, especially day of. Malcolm and the valet team were also so personable and made us feel welcomed each day. We absolutely love the hotel rooms.
Our dinner at The Betty was another highlight the food was delicious, and Tracy + team were so helpful and accommodating.
All around, just a pleasant and memorable experience. We highly recommend staying here.
Mega and Christian …thank you for great services!!! My family appreciate your kindness :)
Had a great stay! On a cross country road trip and we had a uhual trailer and valet was able to park it for us! Totally dog friendly and everyone in the lobby was so friendly :)
Great location with nice rooms but Rachel and Ro at the front desk are the highlight! Exceptional service and super welcoming. Would definitely stay again!
My room was on the dingy side and felt overpriced for what it was. Dirty windows, stained carpet, sloppy paint. I also noticed the same room advertised at a lower rate, and when I asked the front desk about it, they weren’t interested in helping. Next time, I’ll stay elsewhere.
