This was my first time here, and to be honest with you, I love the place. It's been there since 1879, and the inside is all original. It is a work in progress but I love the way it looks right now to be honest with you. The people were very courteous. The menu, it's very generous. And there are a ton of options on there for drinks. They serve lemonade t in water for free. I thought that was a very nice touch, but all the sandwiches we tried. There were 6 of us, and we each got something different. And every one of them was incredible. The taste was amazing. And I will absolutely go back here. Anytime I'm in town for a lunch. It was that good

Delicious gem of a sandwich shop. Off the beaten path in the downtown area. Food was amazing and had a very pleasant interaction with the staff.

The food is delicious. The potato salad was piping hot and briny with smoky bacon and the reuben was perfect. The kraut wasn't soggy and the pastrami was sliced just right.

The tables and chairs in the dining area were a mishmash of different sizes and heights. The seating area was clean but disorganized. The antique general store countertops were cluttered, shelves around the dining room were sparse. The back part of the restaurant where the old deli cases are located was not set up for guests any more.

I think the very courteous man who took our orders was also making the food. Maybe he was working by himself?

This place is definitely worth a visit if you're in Augusta and want a genuine deli experience.

This place was so cute and unique. Finally tried it for the first time yesterday and the sweet old man who took our order told us all the history about the building, owners, and Hilderbrandt's. It was fascinating. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great.

Amazing to find a place as old as this, still working and still offering tasty sandwiches. The German potato salad was delicious and the cucumber Dill salad was also tasty and very fresh. A place to repeat.

Very unique atmosphere and friendly service. Arrived on a Saturday when they first opened and was the second customer. Took a few minutes to get my pastrami Reuben….they were still setting up the “beverage station.” Sandwich had plenty of pastrami, not enough sauerkraut and cheese IMHO
but I love sauerkraut and cheese. Overall, it was a good sandwich but nothing really special. Glad I finally visited…..

I loved the idea of a 4th gen, 100 year old German deli. It's in an old downtown building.
The food: i had the Italian and it was great. My husband had the German and it was not good at all. Very disappointing. We both had the German salad for it side. It's very pickle forward. Again, I enjoyed it, my husband: not so much.
The worst thing and the biggest turn off was the guy at the counter. He was wearing a mask but it wouldn't stay up and he kept messing with it. All the while he needed to blow his nose.

I got their ‘German Louis’. It was super delicious. Generous amount of meat, cheese packed on a good quality bread. It sucks that city hasn’t still completed construction of pavements and road right in front of this restaurant. Its ambiance is also very cute and antique looking. Highly recommended!

Ridiculously good food & there's clearly a lot of history to the place. Seems to be a lot of loyal regulars and I definitely understand why now, the wait time was long when I went but it was soooo worth it

Went here with a classmate of mine back when we were still attending Augusta University. Despite the rather small and quaint atmosphere, this place serves very delicious sandwiches. I still remember the Reuben sandwich along with German potato salad on the side being very memorable and mouthwatering. My classmate also has fond memories of the place as well. They still have on display the bicycle that was used for deliveries nearly half a century ago. An great historic icon in the City of Augusta!
