I came to Soul Bar with my friends around 10 PM and had no issues getting in the first time. Later that night, I realized I had misplaced my ID, so my friend and I went to look for it. We found it and came back to the bar — and that’s when everything went downhill.
The bouncer immediately accused my ID of being fake and even asked my friend to pull out her ID to “compare” it to mine. I’m from South Carolina and my ID has never been questioned anywhere else. I don’t look drastically different from my picture — just slightly older — yet he insisted it wasn’t me.
He then started grilling me about my middle name and birth year in the most rude and condescending way. I understand ID checks are part of the job, but there was absolutely no reason for him to speak to me the way he did. When I tried to defend myself, he acted like I was the problem and tried to kick me out.
What really bothered me is that he was being rude to the girl in front of me too, so clearly this is a pattern. I genuinely enjoyed Soul Bar before this, but after experiencing the unnecessary disrespect and gaslighting from the bouncer, I can’t recommend this place to anyone. Staff attitude can make or break an experience, and tonight it definitely broke mine

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. We went here for a friend's birthday and they helped us surprise her with a cake. They had accommodations for our friends young children as well. We highly recommend. Very friendly and kind staff.

Went to an open mic event my son was participating in. Hadn't been in this building in probably 15 years. Had a great time. The performances were great and the beer was cold!

It gets a bit loud indoors but the outdoor seating is good if you want it a bit quiet.

Soul Bar is my Go-To. The Bartenders are my favorite, fast efficient and the epitome of mixologists. They have all different varieties of Music when they have Live Bands/Groups play. Out back is a small, casual chill little outside area to socialize and get secluded air. Overall, I always enjoy myself whether I'm drinking or not. Its a great place to socialize and start the night off.

It's kind of a downtown trendy bar. Lots of young people on the weekend. But it has an excellent menu in excellent shelf and I highly recommend you stopping by when you downtown and enjoying it. Play staff is very friendly the atmosphere is really cool

Great DJ on Friday ... this is a hit or miss. Not consistent but when u get a good one ... you will dance all night u get a bad one u might hang around for 30 minutes. What I don't understand is if no one is dancing to what you're playing...is your ego so high u can't change the music???? Patrons pay 4 u (DJ) 2 b there
