We stumbled upon Uncle Shug's tonight and it was fantastic. The service was wonderful and the food tasted great! We loved the Brunswick stew, mac-n-cheese, chicken tenders, & ribs! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back soon.
This is a small town restaurant with a huge flavor. Everything on the menu was amazing. From the ribs, pulled pork and brisket to the fries and coleslaw....just delicious. Staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is calm and laid back. The place is a bit small but it's part of its charm. Highly recommend trying it.
I use to go here a lot when we first moved to brooklet, but the atmosphere and food became sadly disappointing. we had not been back in almost 4yrs. we just tried it again the other day this is August of 2024. walked in ordered our food. mind you. I tried calling the order in ahead of time so I would avoid any situations but the phone went straight to busy, a gentleman that came in behind me complained about the phone situation, the girl who took the orders and the older lady stepped to the side of the dinning area to stand and talk about the phones. we don't do this,we don't do that. then while bagging my food. they almost gave my order to someone else. I noticed I didn't get fries and the girl that took my order says she doesn't like it when we mess up orders,then I realized what that ment when the older lady from the front went to the back to get me fries and the older older lady in the kitchen started yelling 😳 back and forth with the older lady in the front. either way very uncomfortable, unprofessional. the food wasn't good,the pork was dry,and the cole slaw dry. the fries were cold greasy and not good. I will never be returning. I will never recommend this place to anyone wanting a good environment or good place to eat. not shugs!!!! this is why the parking lot is empty most all the time

Saturday, July 20, my family reserved a banquet room at Shug’s Barbecue Place for a meal and gathering of sixty guests after my brother’s funeral. It was an excellent experience! The tables were dressed with white tablecloths, the abundant buffet was filled with delicious hot food and the service was great. I’ve told everyone that it was the perfect place for such an event, it was just like going to Mother’s for dinner after church. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So, my husband & I use to go to this place all the time, but this place started going downhill when Ms Chris left. We finally quit going bc it always looked dirty, was always out of food, food would be under cooked, etc. Well it's been atleast a year since we were there & we decided to stop & see if things had changed. Went in & first thing I see Ms Chris in the window to the kitchen & I thought, hey, this is a good sign. I order, the smoked chicken, cashier looked at me & said, "We're OUT OF CHICKEN... we just turned around & left. It was around 5:00 pm & one of your most popular dishes, you're out of it? I gave 1 star just so I could write this review, so thr one star is for Ms Chris, I hope you're doing well & it was good to see you. This review has nothing to do with you, but I hope this place will soon get it together.
