Disappointing Veterans Day Experience at Blades Pizza in Buford GA.

On November 11, 2025, around 5:40 p.m., I visited Blades Pizza in Buford, Georgia, near the Mall of Georgia to take part in their Veterans Day promotion offering a free one-topping pizza to veterans. As a combat veteran who has served three tours overseas, I was truly looking forward to my first visit and appreciated the gesture.

At first, everything seemed fine the service was quick, and I was happy to be there. However, when I received my pizza, I was immediately disappointed. The pizza was severely overcooked dark, burnt, and hard around the edges, making it nearly inedible. I also noticed several customers who ordered after me were receiving their food first, which made me think my pizza had been left too long in the back of the oven.

When I pointed this out, the employee agreed to have it remade after checking with the manager. I stepped outside to my vehicle briefly, expecting a fresh pizza when I returned. Instead, I was handed the exact same burnt pizza. When I mentioned that, I was told it was “still edible.” At that point, I decided to leave rather than argue.

Veterans Day is meant to honor those who have served, and I take great pride in that. I wasn’t asking for anything special — just a simple, decent pizza as part of an appreciation gesture. Unfortunately, Blades Pizza failed to deliver even that.

I typically go to Your Pie, where the service and food quality are always top-notch. I had hoped Blades Pizza could be a new favorite, but after this experience, I won’t be returning. If this is how they choose to show appreciation to veterans, I’ll gladly take my business elsewhere.

This place really needs some staff and management. One time it took me 45min to get my order, with only 5 people on the line. Today there is only one person - making the pizza, operating the oven, giving the pizza and doing the cash register, I feel bad for her. Sad because the food is really good.

Absolutely love this location! Taste soo much better than the other ones in the state. I have a gluten allergy and I am so grateful that the she asked if it was an allergy and went out the way to put it in a separate oven and everything with the gluten free crust! Sooo thankful 🥹

Big fan of Blaze and this location did not disappoint! It was my first time coming to Blaze early (11am), but they had everything I wanted already prepped! It was a great dining experience per usual!

This was my first time visit and it definitely won't be my last. Was looking to kill some time and grab some food from someplace new and stumbled into Blaze.
The building your own pizza aspect was legit. The crust was just the way I like it and I liked that they had spicy red sauce.
My only complaint, if you could even call it a complaint, was that it would have been cool to grab a beer while I enjoyed that delicious pie. But that's just nitpicking. I'm definitely gonna go back again.
