We HIGHLY recommend stopping by the Dugout. It is just a small drive out of Helen and totally worth it!! The food, the atmosphere and the hospitality are top tier. My husband had a steak and it was fantastic. The beef is local and you can definitely tell the difference. We stopped by rather close to their closing time as we had just stumbled upon them and needed to grab dinner. Despite out late arrival, they made us feel welcome and not rushed at all. Friendly staff, good food, local hangout, great area. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Well kept. It's out of the busy area of town but close enough to go into town to get what you need. Still in the county enough to see deer and wildlife walk by.
We tried Dugout for the first time and honestly can't believe we waited this long. Michelle was our waitress, and she was awesome. From the second she came to the table, she made us feel welcome. She's funny, sarcastic in the best way, and had my husband, daughter, and me laughing the whole time. She made us feel like we'd been coming there for years.
