Universal Joint Clayton is a very cool, cozy, and laidback burger joint in an old gas station, known for its superb and inviting atmosphere. The eclectic decor includes a sharp horseshoe bar inside and a beautiful outdoor area with a fire pit and heat lamps. It features a small stage for live music and is a fun, popular spot that is usually pretty busy. Guests can eat indoors or outside, where pets are welcome. The menu is very simple, focusing on burgers and such, with a full bar. The food is consistently good and delicious, with generous portions for fair prices. Specific standout items include the fantastic brisket sandwich with au jus, the Steinbeck burger, the excellent 4 Oz smash burger, loaded brisket nachos, and the house-made black bean burger. For vegetarians, the southwest quesadilla with black beans is a must-try, described as one of the best. Service is quick, attentive, and good. The setting is very informal, though it can get loud from the stage and kids' play area. Overall, it is always a good place to enjoy a nice meal with friends.
