Coaxum's Low Country Cuisine

1st and last meal I will ever eat there. My food was to the standard of cafeteria school lunch. Lacked any flavor. Tastied as if it was three days old and reheated in a microwave. My husband order a hamburger medium rare. He received a rare hamburger dripping on blood. Waitresses was confused as what to do. my husband requested for it to be remade. We were made to wait 15 minutes longer. For which it was decided to take the burger just made to take home. Only to discover it too was a rare Hamburger.
How sad is it that a restaurant can't even figure out how to cook a simple hamburger.

Overall , raw flavorless food. Better off going to Golden Corral.

This is an updated review (9/6/25), but Coaxum's is still a 5 star restaurant. The food and servixe are still wonderful (kudos to Monisha). Live band and ambiance were great! Definitely coming back!

The food is great! Rockefeller oysters and salmon cakes are my personal favorite. Did I mention the okra? Yess, one of my favorites as well.

We as a party of about 25-30 people celebrated a relative’s birthday at this location today. The food was good and I ordered the blackened salmon fillet burger. It was cooked to my satisfaction as requested, not too hard. It was juicy and flaky. The bun could’ve been a tad bit larger considering the size of the fillet but I was definitely pleased overall. The braised collard greens were not exactly what I expected as “braised” but they were ok. The mixed salad looked good and I wish that I had ordered that. The Heavy Hitter cocktail was tasty although I was surprised at the small size. I had to refrain from sipping it before our food arrived. The wait time was a little too long and the entrees came out sparingly. They may have been short staffed but our server could have used an extra hand. She was polite though. The live 2 man music ensemble was very entertaining. They played some great selections and were personable. My daughter had shrimp and grits..she said it was good. The fried chicken was highly recommended and one of the attendees said that it was great. I would visit again..hopefully it will be just as impressive as it was today..just a little more speed on the food delivery. I just took off one star for the wait time.

The food was absolutely delicious!!! Especially the bread pudding the best I've ever had. The service Fantastic and the atmosphere with the live music was a laid back Vibe!! Will definitely be back

We went for the brunch buffet today and it was amazing! From southern staples like greens, black eyed peas, fried chicken and sweet potato casserole to brunch faves like eggs, waffles, bacon, shrimp and grits… oh my, everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned and delicious! Cocktails were also delicious like the old fashioned and lavender lemon drop martini. Live music too! Go here. You will not regret it!

I’ve always enjoyed the food here, which is why I didn’t mind driving an hour for lunch today. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing this time. The food lacked the quality I’ve come to expect, and I’m not sure if it’s due to new management or a different cook. Sadly, this visit will likely be my last to Coaxum’s.

My sister and I visited the place yesterday and after leaving 3 establishments in the area, we were pleasantly surprised. The customer service was top notch. Mr. Coaxum even came to our table to greet us. It was great and will be back soon!

My waitress was so sweet. She provided recommendation on food and always came back to see if there was anything we needed. Kept our drinks flowing and even made us laugh. The young lady was super sweet. I can't remember her name but she was a college student.

This is my 3rd time in some yrs dining at this location. I enjoyed the live band. My waitress was professional and straight to the point. She recommended a few things on the menu which I ordered, however I didn't enjoy them. They were just okay. I ordered the lavendar lemon drop that reminded me of what lavender fabuloso would taste like. I then try a long island iced tea. SmH. I also order the fried fish platter. It consisted of fried catfish or whiting, fried oysters, and fried shrimp. My side was sweet potatoe casserole with marshmallows and nuts. The presentation was great. I was expecting a Wow flavor. All of my fish had such a pretty golden brown color. I was suprised when everything tasted like it was all seasoned with just regular salt. Maybe if it had a little zest or zing it would have helped. You would think with a fried fish platter a few wedges of lemon and some type of dipping sauce for the shrimp and oysters would be included. No, not at all. I was given ketchup. This was disappointing.
