I like to try local places when traveling & avoid chain restaurants. So much potential in this historic building & a good tavern menu. Went for supper at 5:30pm on a Wednesday, 3 other customers. I ordered a second beer and the waitress said, "we're out of clean glasses so I need to reuse the glass" but it was my partner's glass! Bathroom was a mess & the whole place just felt dirty. Broken beer bottles on the sidewalk. Staff kept stepping outside. Food was average but our draft beer was good. Service below average. I can't recommend.

Nice old school feeling place. Pool tables and plenty to drink! Great food, portions could be a little bigger however the taste well makes up for it.

Just visited this place for the first time...sadly we are so disappointed!!! We were one of 2 tables and 1 guy at the bar. We went to get the philly steak but they were out so We ordered the pretzel bites with beer cheese and honey mustard while we looked over the menu to see whatelse we wanted. Our waitress was more interested in talking the the gentleman at the bar and eating her own meal, she didn't get our order until the pretzels came out. The cheese was so thick and chunky, and had been sitting so long it had a crust on it and no honey mustard. We ordered the railroad burger with onion rings (because the reviews on those were great). We think the onion rings were cooked as soon as the order went in because the were cold (they would have been Amazing had they been hot) and the burger was piping hot!! Great sign right?? Wrong, the burger had absolutely NO FLAVOR. It was "stuffed" with bacon and cheese, enough for about 1 or 2 bites in the middle of it. There was a tiny piece of onion and oddly fat slice of tomato. If it hadn't been for the mustard and mayo we put on it, it wouldn't have had any flavor at all. Anyway, we're headed back up 75 with our heads hung low, lol

I live in Macon and am fascinated by railroads and trains. Searching about trains, I discovered that Cordele has trains that travel through town at all hours. Only being an hour South of Macon, my wife and I traveled there to see and photograph trains. We arrived at lunchtime and I had already researched restaurants. I wanted to visit the RailHouse Tavern. So glad I did. The staff was very friendly, the food was fresh (I had one the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches) and the best onion rings (hand cut, battered on their own covering and lightly fried - pure lip smacking goodness). It was an amazing meal. After lunch, we went to a city owned conversation platform where I could view trains that visited the town.

We pulled off from the interstate and nearly stopped at the nearest Mexican restaurant. That would have been a mistake. We drove into historic downtown Cordele, GA, which is like driving into the 19th century, but don't let the outside fool you. This place was awesome! Great bar atmosphere with lots of choices for brews. They have a Sunday brunch that lasts all day. Although we didn't have the brunch, we did have a Cheese Dip Trio with homemade tortilla chips. It was a spinach dip, a spicy queso dip, & a three-cheese meat dip. I had pork tacos that had grilled cabbage and a bbq sauce. The tortillas were also grilled, which gave the tacos a smoley flavor. Excellent stuff! My wife had a fresh salad that came with pecans and cranberries. Everything had fresh ingredients and was made from scratch. Sweet tea was refreshing, and our server kept my glass full without having to ask for a refill. Complementary drinks were made available to go. Excellent service! Clean bathroom, and the back tavern has a pool table. This is a cool place to hang out, and we will return. Highly recommend this place when in the Cordele, GA area.Parking: Big parking lot across the street from the tavern.Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating with kids.

We were able to get a table right away, the food was average, could have made it better at home, the beer was cold. Our server was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.

I guess I have higher expectations for a 4.5 rating. Beer was great, but food and service not so much. The fried veggie appetizer was a big plate of soggy oiled down veggies... buffalo chicken dip nothing but a bowl of oil. If you're a local you get better service. I'm guessing the locals are why the high rating is higher than it should be. The place could be a gold mine with a few tweaks...well a lot of tweaks....people and food. Sorry I asked for a beer Mr. Bartender....I know you had locals to attend to.
