Our experience at North GA BBQ was terrible from start to finish. The young man taking orders claimed to be vegetarian so he wouldn’t have to make recommendations, then admitted he just says that so he doesn’t have to be helpful. It came across as rude, but we were still hopeful the food would make up for it. Unfortunately, it didn’t.
We ordered a variety of items including brisket, ribs, pulled pork, potato salad, mac and cheese, and baked beans, and everything ranged from bland to downright bad. The pork sandwich was so greasy that it dripped down my hand, while the brisket and ribs were dry and flavorless.
The only redeeming parts were the barbecue sauce (which was good) and the outdoor seating area. Sadly, that’s not enough for us to ever go back.

If you’re craving good barbecue, unfortunately this is the only spot in town…but “only” doesn’t mean “best.” The ribs are a real letdown: dry, chewy, and lacking that smoky tenderness you’d expect from proper BBQ. Instead of falling off the bone, they cling to it for dear life. The sauce can’t save them either. It’s more of a sugary cover-up than a flavor enhancer.
I’ll give them credit for being the only option around, but if you’ve ever had real barbecue elsewhere, you’ll taste the difference immediately. Sometimes convenience is the only reason to stop by, not the quality.

I noticed the 82 health score rating tucked behind a shelf by the door when I entered, but my friend recommended the place, so I stayed. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the Brisket Sandwich combo, which came out fast but wasn't warm (not fresh or even rewarmed before being served), so that impeded my experience. Somewhat fatty, but overall decent meat and sandwich (6.5/10). Not a lot of fries, but they were seasoned very well. $14ish dollars for an okay-ish meal.

Pork barbecue is excellent. Tangy sauce was my favorite. I had a small side of wings to finish off the meal, very nice.

Went for some takeout tonight. Ordered a half pound of two kinds of meat. Over $20 for a total of one pound of meat— which was very likely not even correct. Two pieces of brisket and less pork than I’d expect on a standard sandwich. “We weigh it.” was the response when I questioned if we were sure this was a half-pound. We used to own a BBQ restaurant and I’m confident we were under served and over charged.

Best brunswick stew in N Georgia. Barry b que is good with good flavor. Only reason for 3 stars on food is that they frequently have trouble keeping the food or stew hot. Luke warm on the stew is common and the barbque frequently is almost room temp. The only reason for not giving 5 stars on service is they frequently don't remember when we pay for the larger side of stew and serve the basic size instead. Aside from the temp issue, they normally have the best barbque around. The only negative I can say about the food itself is that the brunswick stew is very good, the stew seems to have almost pureed meat which causes it to appear more watery than some. I personally prefer larger chunks of meat in the stew, but like I said the flavor is excellent and we frequent here usually twice a week and it is mainly for the stew.

Nice bbq place 👍. The pig melt , baked beans and Brunswick stew are good. They were out of collards but I bet they would be good too. I’ll try them when I come back

Restaurantji Recommends
Food was par, but the A/C system was broken down again. I heard the staff complain about the scarcity of customers. I could have told them that it was because of the heat. Maybe the next owner will maintain or replace the A/C system. Makes me wonder whether the coolers, freezers, and other kitchen equipment are also not working so well.
Good quantity of food served quickly after you order at the counter. Ribs were ordinary, which we use as the marker of a good bbq joint. We want the meat falling off the bone and these were not.

They served us cold BBQ. Didn’t want to argue with the guy at the counter or the cook. If you eat what they are serving, you will get food poisoning. You could die from it. I won’t go back in the place. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Their mac n cheese is AMAZING!!
Their okra is prepared in a fashion I've never eaten. They split it down the middle long ways, and I think they pan fry it. There's no breading on it. If I had known ahead of time, I would have asked them to make mine crispier.
