We loved the class and Ms Tonii made it educational as well as entertaining! The wine is delicious and made to what you like. We will definitely be back
Food was really good, especially the fried chicken. Food was not really hot. No cinnamon rolls. Only on Fridau nights. Why a breakfast Food available only on Friday nights?
We had dinner for 3. The servers were very friendly. Fried chicken was excellent. The sides were “ok.” Mac and cheese was over cooked and watery, creamed corn was cold, the rest were fine but nothing to write home about. Fried okra was pretty good.
The Smith House didn’t live up to its reputation or recommendations. We arrived hungry and with open minds and considered this part of the Dahlonega Christmas experience. However, at $25-ish a person anticipated a bit more than what looked like instant mashed potatoes, ham that appeared warmed, and an occasional smile. The food is mid-to below average Southern staples. Signs on the tables state no refills on food … disappointing considering the cost per person. The fried chicken was good and crispy. The strawberry shortcake was also good. If you are someone who enjoys cafeteria-style food served family style this is the place for you.
Terrible. Waitress quized us whether we wanted white or dark fried chicken and brought us a bowl containing a single piece for each of us along some watery ham. Veg bowls were not refilled. At $22 per head we will never go back
A wonderful restaurant where you can enjoy a large and delicious southern meal with kind southern hospitality. This restaurant gives you fried chicken, and a host of sides that will surely fill you up and leave you smiling. Feels like you are visiting a southern family that specializes in all the southern favorite foods such as creamed corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra, collar greens, green peas, and several more. Drinks are included in the price and you get an option of lemonade, sweet tea, unsweetened tea, and water. You can ask for an Arnold Palmer and they can make that as well. Parking is a little confusing as the allowed parking spots for the restaurant is on the left as you enter the parking lot, and the entire right side of the parking lot says the spots are reserved for the Smith House hotel. There is a neat gift shop on the upper floor which is where you pay for the wheel and an old gold mine on the bottom floor where the dining hall and restaurant are. Coming to the Smith House has become a family tradition and we hope they stay around forever. Thank you to the staff and a solid high five and five stars for them.
This was my first time eating here. We arrived around 5:45 and there was only one other table. Great for us, as we had tickets to a music venue at 7:30. Much to my surprise, the chicken was cold, overcooked dry and not eatable. The ham was okay, looked like a thick piece you would buy at the store and warmed up. The mashed potatoes were instant. I will stop here, I’m sure you get the idea. We paid $25.00 a person and when asked I politely said I would never come back. OH? Why, explained and that was that. Never offered to reimburse even half of our monies.
The menu today had fried chicken, smothered steaks and gravy, mashed potatoes, cream corn, green beans, fried okra, greens, rolls or corn bread and strawberry shortcake. There was plenty of food for the 6 of us. You can not ask for seconds, but do not need to. The portions brought out is more than enough. They do not have any sodas, but if you want one you can go the store on the second floor and buy one.
Friendly service, but food was only average. Many of the sides could have used more seasoning. The fried chicken was yummy though.
Delicious, family style lunch, where they bring you bowls of Southern vegetables and two meats. Although expensive at $24.95 per person it was a great meal. The fried Chicken, creamed corn, Mac & cheese and fried okra were fabulous! Good yeast rolls and cornbread too! I did wish they offered two bowls of refills of your choice of vegetables, but there are no seconds. This isn’t an all you can eat lunch, but there was plenty left over on our table. There isn’t a menu to choose an entree from, you just get all of what’s on the menu for that meal and it’s a lot of food. You also get dessert with this if you can hold it! They offer to go containers for what you couldn’t eat. Very friendly staff as well! Great family tables for larger parties set up. Food came out very quickly too!

Great location to walk to everything downtown. Very clean rooms and facilities. friendly staff. Room with a balcony was a great place to people watch and chill.
Stayed here for 4 nights and can't say enough about this place. They are very accommodating if needed, very friendly and the atmosphere of the old house was memorable. The restaurant was simply amazing ( best food I have had in a long time). The house was so close to everything , walking distance was so nice and enjoyable. Will definitely go back to visit and will stay here over anywhere else. Loved it to the extreme.
This restaurant should be closed....they serve me raw chicken...brought to the awareness of the owner....they acknowledged under cook and so no remorse
There were 14 of us and we couldn't sit together. Was told they couldn't move the tables, yet there was another group all sitting together. Wasn't even offered the chance to wait till that group left. Food was bland, no salt on anything. Biscuits/ muffins tasted stale and day old. Had to flag down staff for more water, tea etc. They took our plates but not the remaining food which sat there till we left. One table got their desserts 30 mins before our table. Yes that is correct we waited 30 MINS for dessert. We stopped 3 people asking about it. One table was ready to leave but had to wait till we got our dessert. And then the shortcake was again stale tasting. Will not go back and don't recommend it. IF you do go, don't TIP before you sit down wait till after cause I would not have tipped so high if I knew it was going to be that bad of service. OH and the rules! that you have to go the bathroom before you sit down? And wait staff can't touch your phone. I am sorry but if you are that scared to touch someones phone to take a picture then stay home and don't work.
This is traditional home cooking in downtown Dahlonega, Ga. There is a specified menu ( no selection) and the food is pricey, it is good and copious. Portions are family sized. Recommend it.
