Terrible customer relations
My family and I went to Trattoria di Montaluce for dinner as we spent a few days at one of the villas, and this restaurant was the closest to where we staying.
We were seated right away and never having been before, I noted that this restaurant was huge! Lots of wood, and wood accents with good lighting and an upscale vibe. It took a while for our server to appear, but once he did, he was friendly. He took our drink order and then disappeared…this was the beginning of the end.
It took about 10 minutes for our server to return with our drinks. I could see fairly quickly that he was waiting several tables with 6-10 people at each.
He returned about 10 minutes later and took our appetizer order. We got the big meatball($18) and calamari ($17).
The meatballs, while nice and hot, was just average. The calamari was overcooked and hard in some bites, and was overly salty.
We waited a long time for the server to return to take our dinner order. I’m not gonna lie, normally I would have been pissed that service was so slow, but I soon could see the number of tables he was waiting, and the number of people at each.
We waited 10-15 for him to return to take our order. (Pizzas take 8-10 minutes, and NOTE: they WON’T do half and half pizzas).. I mean..WHUT?!?
We placed our order for one THIN CRUST Classica ($22) and one THIN CRUST Montaluce ($22) and we waited and waited, and while we waited a family got seated right next to us, placed their order, and their pizza came out about 10 minutes before ours.
When our first pizza arrived at the table, it was incorrect. By incorrect, I mean the WRONG pizza.
He apologized and said, “I don’t know what happened to the ticket.” And he apologized again.
Another 15 minutes went by and the family next to us who came AFTER us was finishing their pizza.
By now, we’ve been waiting over an hour, even tho pizzas take 8-10 minutes. (I asked).😡
The pizzas FINALLY came out and the server said, “I’m really sorry about the mixup. It was totally my fault, and I’m gonna ask the manager if he’ll take something off the bill.” I told him that we’d appreciate that.
About 5 minutes later, he returned to say that manger will offer 1 free dessert. Huh… for 5 people I thought myself. “I’ll Pass on that” I said.
Our son, however decided that he’d take it since my husband and I passed on it. He got the Tiramisu (which he didn’t finish. He said it was light on the coffee, and meh on flavor).
I felt like our business wasn’t appreciated despite the fact that we spent well over $100 when include the drinks. The night was a complete failure and the pizza, just so-so; the manager clearly didn’t care.
Not to worry tho, We won’t be back..
Wheelchair accessibility: Dining tables are LONG, the restaurant is spacious, there is plenty of room for wheelchairs! However, getting up the hill from the parking lot may be another issue all together.

I’ll preface this bad review by stating we thought we had made reservations at the winery and restaurant…we didn’t. The reservation was for the pizza place next door to the winery and restaurant. With that being said, I cannot compare the real restaurant to this one as this was our first time visiting either. So, here it goes…One, this place is not “special” at all. The atmosphere is less than to be desired. Two, service wasn’t great. We waited nearly 20 minutes for a waiter to come to our table. The whole time feeling tricked for ever being here to begin with. Three, the bathrooms are located outside, around the corner, kinda like the setup at a cheap gas station. So if it’s chilly, rainy, hot, etc…you must leave the inside to go to the bathroom outside. Four, the food was no good. I got the overpriced and underwhelming Chicken Parmesan. Quite possible the most flavorless chicken parm I’ve ever had. My wife got the Pollo Della Nonna, it was still partially raw, visibly pink and the veggies it came with were onions and cherry tomatoes…that’s it. Both dinners were served in the pan the were cooked in. No proper plates or anything. We both ordered a coke each and neither got any refill service. Five, No appetizer, bread service, or salads were ordered. Simply our two sodas and our two dinner plates. The check came out to $82 and some change. So, $100 later we quickly left and did not want any to go boxes. We drove 1.5 hours to get here(1.5 hours back home too). We thought this was a “destination” type of place. If it is, don’t waste your time. I’m thinking maybe if you live in the area and want something beyond fast food or chain restaurants, this might be your only option. If that’s its deal, I kinda get it but not really. Maybe had the bill been 2/3 less than it was, maybe and I’m not totally sure about this statement but maybe I’d be ok with this experience but that’s a pretty big “maybe”.

Wonderful dinner for 8 last night! Beautiful venue, great service, wine & food!
Such a great place, the food was fabulous but most importantly the service was over the top. Katie the bartender kicked it off with her espresso martinis and her extra dirty martini! Can not say enough about both the food and staff and the sunset was a bonus!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Trattoria di Montaluce, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a delightful evening.
Katie, Gracie, and Chris our servers were absolute gems! The attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm for the menu made our dining experience truly exceptional. They were knowledgeable about the dishes and offered fantastic recommendations that did not disappoint.
Now, let’s talk about the food! Every dish we ordered was a masterpiece. Each bite was bursting with flavor, and you could tell that the ingredients were fresh and carefully selected. The highlight, however, was the espresso martinis—simply divine! They were perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness and that rich espresso flavor, making them the perfect complement to our meal.
Overall, Trattoria di Montaluce is a must-visit! With outstanding service from Katie, delectable food, and exceptional cocktails, I can’t wait to return for another wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend!

First-the venue is AMAZING!! so incredibly beautiful with the views of the vineyards, small pond and beautiful building itself. Wonderful for photos.
Next, the food: NOW this is an Italian restaurant right? I thought so BUT there was no smell of garlic while entering or while being there fir a couple of hours. I’m Italian-nit even full Italian but I expected much more. Their lasagna needs work big time!!! It is pricey and I was sadly disappointed. First, it comes in a huge pot so you think “uh oh I hope I can eat all of that!” You open the pot and it is a 4 x4 small piece of lasagna and by the look I was already disappointed-especially being nearly $30!!! And that’s all I got for $30 and it was mediocre-Not even a piece of garlics bread-really? Please work on that big time or reduce the price by half at least-respect your customers!
The steak (rib eye) came sliced with French fries which were good BUT that amount for $52?!?!?!?!!!!! Absurd. As my mother would say “Highway Robbery”. As you can see from my photo-very little steak fir $52-I guess it was marinated in good perhaps?
Don’t even know if we’ll come back. ONLY for a photo op.
Wine has a sweet-tart front. Meat pizza - prepare for the salt. Ragu- ok I suppose. Meh.
