Hot dog did not have the snap that we detroiters are use to. On my way out I saw a little sign that said you could get that type of hot dog for an extra $1 by the register but the server should let you know you have a choice or signs at the table. When we come in that is the expectation really not a regular hot dog in a regular bun. Bun was not steamed or anything. Chili was decent. Service was good. I will come back and give it another shot but please let people know there is an option.

First of all the owner is such a personal person. The staff was very nice and tye restaurant had an atmosphere. But, don't get me started on the koney dog. I thought I was back in Detroit. I started eating my knoey on the way home and wanted to turn around and get another one. 10 out of 10.
Will definitely be back.

I've lived in the metro Atlanta area for over 20 years now, and since I've moved here I've been waiting for a Coney to come here, and Detroit Koney DID NOT DISAPPOINT!

It is great being able to have a taste of home within driving distance. The Coney's are authentic, the chili is the real deal, and the corned beef is on point! Can't wait to taste everything else on the menu.

So glad you have posted up here, you did your big thing Detroit Koney GA!

Listen… as a Black woman from Detroit, this meant something to me! To have a real Detroit Coney Island right here in Georgia? Baby, I was excited! Plus, my cousin knows the owner... and highly recommended me to visit! 😁

The food took me straight back home. That authentic taste I grew up on was ON POINT. Everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor ... just like it’s supposed to be.

They received 4 stars because I don't like their schedule. I drove out again yesterday not knowing their hours are from 4-11. I also tried to go on a Monday and they were closed. I'm used to Coney Island being open 24/7 back at home. 🤔😫 I guess I should have checked the website first! 🤷🏽‍♀️

But .... the owner was super cool, down to earth, and welcoming. The customer service was amazing from the moment we walked in.

Thank you for bringing Detroit Culture to Hiram. It feels good to have a little taste of home down here! 🎉🎉🎉 I have posted REELS and so may people are planning to visit now. Wishing you Blessings! 🙏🏽🙌🏽

I’m originally from Detroit Michigan now living in Powder Springs GA “Clipperman” is the name and soon as I heard it was Koney Island in my neck of the woods I definitely had to pay them a visit Ekene was very pleasant she definitely has a staff that is very professional and catering with great smiles and positive energy. 10/10 for food and customer service it’s definitely home away from home and me and my fiancé will definitely be coming here on a regular basis.

My boo & I really enjoyed this place! I got a chicken pita & he got coney dogs. We loved the chili cheese fries & the hot honey mozzarella cheese sticks. Oh & the Incredible Hulk kool-aid is a must! The owner was also such a sweetheart. She made sure we didn’t want for anything. From taking orders, to bringing out plates & even cleaning tables, she is an amazing individual holding this restaurant together! She even gave us drinks to go! 10/10, loved the food & the service. 1st time here & we’ll definitely be back!

I can't tell you how their food was we got there there were three people waiting on orders to go and there was two ladies sitting at a table we came to dine in so sat down at a table 20 minutes later they finally like finally came out and asked if we want to pay for me and you or could we scan the barcode on the table we told him we wanted to pay for menu 10 minutes later they brought one paper menu between six people ask how long the backup was because I'd already been there close to 40 minutes in her two of the three people that were waiting on food to go out front ask for their money back The girl says to us I will really busy it'll probably be about 45 minutes by this time there's a lot besides our six there's only one person in the lobby and the two ladies still sitting in the dining room and at a table next to us and I said this is busy she's oh yeah we're real busy At that time we excused ourselves and went to another restaurant to eat this is my second attempt to eat there their food may be good but their service or their hours and not reliable the last time we showed up to eat there they were closed no note on the door no nothing just closed they told me later when I phoned oh there was a major power outage and how I'm funny thing to me we've went through the whole hiring strip and went back up the strip and actually sat down and ate dinner within about 20 minutes of it in their place and nobody else had power service station next door to him had power so maybe they didn't pay their power bill I'm not sure but I won't be back.

I stopped by Detroit Koney in Hiram on Valentine's Day and had a really good experience. The owner took my order personally and her customer service was excellent, warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in.

As someone who grew up in Detroit, I was genuinely excited to find this spot. I ordered the Coney Dogs with chili cheese fries. Everything was flavorful and well-made. My only disappointment was the hot dogs, I specifically asked the owner if they had that signature snap that any Detroit native knows and loves, and she assured me they did. Unfortunately, they didn't quite deliver on that front. That said, the chili was on point and the chili cheese fries hit the spot.

One small thing won't keep me away. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

I’ve visited Detroit Koney four times, and unfortunately, I’ve experienced an issue during every visit.

The first time, I ordered two coney “slaw” dogs, and they forgot the slaw. Not a huge deal, but that’s the whole point of getting the “SLAW” dog

The second time, I ordered a corned beef sandwich ahead of time. When I arrived, I was told there would still be a 30-minute wait. The employee at the counter said they never received my order. I explained that I had spoken with the owner, but she said the owner wasn’t there yet. About 10 minutes later, the owner arrived with the corned beef — but it still needed to be cooked, even though I had ordered ahead.

The third visit, I ordered another corned beef sandwich. This time they forgot the pickle. It may seem minor, but if you’re from Detroit like I am, you know the pickle is imperative to the sandwich!

Most recently, I ordered ahead again and even waited almost 20 minutes before leaving home to make sure it would be ready. When I arrived, they said my order wasn’t in the system. I showed proof that I had already paid, but they still couldn’t locate it. They asked what I ordered — I20 fries and a corned beef sandwich. I was told they could make the fries but could only give me the corned beef “tomorrow.” I requested a refund for the sandwich. I was then told they couldn’t refund my card because they couldn’t find the ticket. After showing my receipt again, they offered to give me cash instead. I accepted because I just wanted my money back.

The food is good, but it doesn’t truly taste like Detroit to me. More importantly, the repeated ordering and service issues make it hard to justify returning. Consistency and better order management would go a long way.

Never Again

This “business” advertises its product as “Detroit chili,” but the chili being served is canned, store-bought product. That lack of transparency is misleading for customers expecting something authentic which isn’t.

There have also been serious food-safety concerns observed, including food being picked up off the ground and still served to customers. That alone raises major red flags regarding sanitation and basic health standards.

Beyond the food itself, overall operations reflect poor management and a lack of restaurant experience. There appears to be little structure, inconsistent procedures, and no clear accountability, all of which negatively affect quality and safety.

Additionally, ownership has been known to make inappropriate and divisive remarks unrelated to the business. These comments reflect unprofessional judgment and contribute to an uncomfortable, unwelcoming environment.

Based on these concerns, this establishment cannot be recommended. Save yourself a trip I promise!!
