Huge portions, great food, great value, large entrees and sides kids menu, desserts including pie and cake off the day. Fresh and hot and really crispy cold, got so things meant to be cold.
Vegetarian options: Not much
Dietary restrictions: Not super healthy but you can make descent choices. Sides have plenty of seasoning. Like pork fat in the green beans not healthy but very tasty. You can get the side combo

Construction underway
Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly

This was our first trip to Dalton and we stopped here for breakfast. Their food was all delicious and all homemade! We'll be back soon. We're tempted to stay just so we can try their lunches!

We really enjoyed our dinners at Oakwood Cafe. Brisket with corn casserole and squash casserole. Salmon with squash casserole, and carrots soufflé. We ended with homemade peach cobbler that was very fresh and tasty. Both meals were excellent. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere and ambience was very quaint.

This was a great place! For lunch it was great. I got the turkey dressing lunch plate for Friday and it was deleted entirely off my plate.

Oakwood was recommended by family who had breakfast here a few weeks ago. I was looking forward to eating here as the menu looked great. We walk in, first thing you see is a sign to seat yourself. We find an area to accommodate us. We seat ourselves as the sign reads. No one has greeted us at this time. We’re sitting for a few minutes, no one has come to table. We’re in eye view of the checkout counter/hostess area. There are 2-3 young ladies at the counter during our wait, two of them working the register checkout area whisper between themselves as they’re looking in our direction. Then one of them walks away. A minute or so later a woman walks up to the area to announce the table we’re at is a closed section. There was no sign in this section to indicate such. She seemed a bit annoyed to have to deal with this. She says we can sit in this back section, WHERE THE CLOSED SECTION SIGN IS. Not sure how that made sense. She walks us back to this section that is filled with dirty tables, food all on the floor. Again, she’s annoyed to have to be doing this. She never apologized for the confusion on their part. Just walked away. My issue is that the two girls that whispered about us could just have let us know the table was closed instead of having us sit there, waiting. Customer service training would be ideal for the employees. Food was okay.

We stopped here on a Thursday for lunch on a road trip. It had pretty good ratings and we like trying small mom and pop places instead of big chains and this place is why! They were slammed which is a good sign, it did take a little time before someone came to the table but that's ok, once we placed our orders the service was great and the food came quickly. I wasn't starving do I got the grilled cheese sandwich and asked for bacon on it, "no problem" she said, and a side of fruit. Now I know, it's just a grilled cheese sammy, but they can be good or bad. This one was great, on sourdough bread and the bacon was perfect! Crispy so you don't pull out the entire piece! And the fruit bowl actually had many different types of fruit, not just honeydew and cantaloupe! If you're in Dalton and looking for where the locals eat, this is one of the places!

I overheard Kasey Carpenter speak to his employees. The way he disrespects them is absolutely disgusting. He speaks to them in such a way as if he forgets that they are humans as well.

Meagan waited on us for dinner tonight, and she was superb as was dinner and dessert. We always stay in Dalton, and have dinner at the Oakwood when traveling from Florida, or Indiana.
