This is a place that serves old people food. It cost me $17 for a tea, two 'chicken tenders', a cornbread muffin, fries and potato wedges. The buffalo chicken tenders was listed at $12.50 on the menu. There were two tenders, each a nice size. They were tender and moist and filling. The buffalo sauce tasted more like Frank's red hot sauce than a buffalo sauce. The fries, wedges and muffin were so bland; I don't even think the fries had any salt on them. They were incredibly fresh and steaming when we got to the car but they were certainly not seasoned at all. Even the cornbread muffin had no flavor but dry, if dry was a flavor. The sweet tea was fine. It wasn't super sweet but it wasn't weak either, and they gave us a decent sized cup. Between the husband and myself the tea was the best thing we got.
Very little of what we saw on the menu was less than $10. We ordered one buffalo chicken tender plate and a sweet tea to-go.
The waitress seemed unhappy or bored. Maybe she just has RBF and I misunderstood the situation. She wasn't rude just kinda had a vibe that said she didn't like how we looked. The husband and I have tried coming in multiple times, but always seem to stop by when the place is closed. When we got there it was empty.
We did not have to wait a really long time for the food. It all looked and tasted fresh. The decor and general vibe of the place is Grandma and Grandpa eat here cause the food is easy on the dentures and their bellies.
Service was mediocre, but in all fairness, there was only one server. The menu didn't have a lot of variety, but it does change every day.
Good Southern food.
Used to eat here but kel higgens spamming our towns FB group with advertisements has made sure I don't go back. Why you should you be allowed to break the rules and not every other small business?
I went there for a to go order. Small, old, and smelled really bad as soon as I walked in. I ordered meat and two vegetables. When I paid and saw my change,I asked for a refund immediately. She charged me $17.00!! For a meat and two? In a rinky dink little stinky hole in the wall,I'm not paying that ridiculous price.
The woman who waited on me never said a single word of welcome, she was just short of rude and dismissive
Ridiculous price, bad smell, and lackluster service are not worth nearly $20 for a measly lunch plate.
Thumbs down 👎
Dined in and ants were crawling on the 2 tables we were sitting at, owner didnt seem concerned with them. Hush puppies were raw in the middle.
Food and service was great. But their disability ramp needs worked. Fell out in front of the restaurant. Went back in to tell owner and she seemed to not care. She was sitting on her phone and said “well I didn’t see anything nor did the customer”. Customers were not paying attention and going about their meal, owner of the restaurant was on her cell phone with TV going on inside. But didn’t seem to believe me when I confronted about the situation. Scraped arm bad and hurt ribs from landing on the railing.
Be careful on the handicap ramp carpet. It is not nailed down in place. Spoke with someone else that said their elderly parent also fell out on that same ramp.
Thought we were about to get some good ol southern breakfast with some homemade biscuits. NOPE... the biscuits are canned or a bad version of frozen. The only fresh thing on one of those biscuits was the egg. 🙄
Very local, good food, and good service! I’ll be back.
Service was awful and unprofessional our waiter treated us like dogs to be honest , and i paid 18 dollars for an awful quesadilla that only had tomato and lettuce no rice no beans no flavor ??

My husband is obsessed with the buffalo tenders. I like to try something different every time and I’ve loved everything I’ve had. Even my kids ask when we can go back to Varnell Cafe
