I generally really enjoy this place, but tonight‘s service was disappointing. We were rushed from the moment we arrived – all in, we were there for 56 minutes total. We were still eating, forks in hand, when they asked if we wanted to go boxes, and when they came back and asked if we wanted the dessert menu, and then when they came back to ask if we wanted the check. I was about to go for my last bite when they asked if they could take our plates, so I just said yes because we were starting to feel so unwelcome we just wanted to get out of there. I’m not sure what’s going on tonight, but I hope the waitstaff can sort out their communication issues because otherwise this is a lovely little Decatur place with great atmosphere and good food.

Paolino’s is a vibe; an Oakhurst gem. One of those perfect neighborhood pockets that makes us so lucky to live here. There is a bohemian chic to the decor that betrays the handiwork of the owner, a warmth that’s hard to describe as anything other home-cooked and handmade. Romantic enough for a first date, substantial enough for a 50th anniversary. Everything on the menu is amazing and authentic. I bring my Italian-American mother here every time she is in town. The staff is welcoming, the music is the right volume, the hanging plants add to the mystique. Highly recommend.

We discovered Paolino today during a brief stay in Decatur. We’ve stayed in Decatur many times, always near Decatur Square where we have eaten at several different restaurants. In our opinion, Paolino ranks among the best restaurants in Decatur. It’s located in a quiet, peaceful area with a choice between dining inside or on the covered patio. We ate outside on this lovely evening & it was peaceful enough to carry on a conversation & hear the birds singing. The food is delicious, prepared & served with care & attention. The color of the olive oil in the dipping sauce shows its quality. We started with fried Calamari, which came with both tartar sauce & a tomato sauce; it was hard to choose between the two. My husband had the lamb Ragu; I had the Sherry Cream Seafood. The pasta with our meals was perfectly cooked, and everything was delicious. My husband loved the wine our waiter recommended. For dessert had Limoncello Cake & Ricotta Cheesecake—again, hard to pick a favorite! Service was so pleasant, friendly & relaxed. This is not a restaurant where they sling your food at you & wait for you to leave! You are here for a culinary experience. ❤️ We highly recommend this sweet restaurant & will definitely be back!

I went ealier with my family to eat at this spot, it was our first time and it was amazing! I dont know what was better the food or the customer service! They all were really nice to us, unfortunately we live in Florida but if we did live here would definetly come back often! I highly recommend.

We stopped in for an early dinner (5:30, Wednesday). Plenty of tables; super friendly staff. Not sure about the vibe/decor with all the incessant plants… feels like a garden supply store. But our Chicken Marsala, and, Smoked Salmon Linguine were excellent. Fast too, arrived 10-minutes after we ordered. Perfect spot for a girls lunch out. But parking would be tight at peak hours.

Paolino’s has become our neighborhood go-to for all the right reasons. The food is consistently very good—reliable in a way that keeps you coming back.
What really sets Paolino’s apart is the atmosphere. It’s relaxed and genuinely welcoming without feeling overdone. The staff are consistently friendly and attentive, and you can tell they care about making sure people have a good experience.
It’s basically our version of Cheers—a place where you feel like a regular and it’s easy to settle in. It has that true neighborhood, family-style feel and works just as well for a quick weeknight dinner as it does for catching up with friends.

Filling & rich Italian comfort food! I had pumpkin ravioli and lamb rags. They blew me away with their flavors, topped with oils and cheeses. Love the abundance of live plants all around the place. Definitely an affordable Italian eatery.
Only complaint came from my colleague who had a pesto penne pasta. He wasn't too thrilled pesto was more cream less sauce/nutty flavor. However, the dishes I went for hit the mark, especially with the price point.
We were also seated in a very private booth, with plenty of space!

My entire experience was great. From the greeter to the last bite. I had the Garlic Shrimp penne pasta. It was out of this world. This is quaint little neighborhood spot that's great for a date night. Give them a try.

We ordered our food and received our appetizer but prior to our entree arriving we realized how tired we were and got them to go. Our waiter was very good. We took our food home and enjoyed it thoroughly.
