We had venison and halibut in both were outstanding. Not sure they were worth the price, but they were really really good. Cute restaurant cute atmosphere. Got a few too many sirens tonight. Vodka martinis were outstanding. Definitely a place you should come but bring your wallet

Sadly this visit fell flat due entirely to the food. We started with a salad that could not have been more not special. It needed more dressing too. Then had venison which had great flavors and was cooked perfectly but was nonetheless a bit dry. The foie gras was a star, fantastic. But my pheasant dish was again a bit dry and not special in terms of flavor. It tasted like overdone sausage. My date’s trout had great flavor but the skin was not crispy and downright soggy in places. For the price and the star, we had much higher expectations. Further evidence that a star does not mean much these days.

A really solid farm to table restaurant. The chef is very clever with their flavor profiles. Our server was really sweet, and gave my daughter and her new roommate (both newcomers to Atlanta) lots of tips of her favorite restaurants and bars in the area.

It was fine. The venison was the best thing we had. Nothing to write home about otherwise. Very fine.

Great, elevated, upscale and urbane. This is a sophisticated menu for sophisticated diners. Focused and tight but still with something for everyone. And an excellent place to share. A next-level drinks (wine and cocktails) list accompanies. Smiling and spot on service made this The Deer and The Dove a warm, comfortable and yet exciting place to try.

Very unique proteins that are sooo tasty! take a look at their diverse menu and go with a group of friends so you can taste a variety of yummies to find your favorites. Family board, pheasant liver pate, and octopus were the perfect amount of starters for a party of 7. Pork chops, halibut and duck plates were given delicous reviews. Save room for dessert or eat dessert first, if you want the chocolate hazelnut torte. The cream caramel was light and sweet too. You'll need reservations on the weekend. Our server Clyde was delightfully friendly, funny and knowledgeable about the creative menu. A true treat if you want to be adventurous...they have beef tongue!

I had high hopes walking into The Deer and The Dove. The menu reads like poetry — full of promise, creativity, and farm-to-table elegance. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the prose.

The vegetables, which should have been the highlight of a seasonal, chef-driven menu, were consistently undercooked, over-charred, or simply bland. It’s hard to justify the “elevated” price point when the basics — texture and seasoning — are off.

The sauces, meant to tie the dishes together, lacked depth and balance. Instead of enhancing the flavors, they often left the dishes tasting muted and flat.

Perhaps the most striking aspect of the evening was the pretentious atmosphere. There’s a fine line between refined and self-important, and The Deer and The Dove leans heavily into the latter. It’s clear the focus is more on image than execution.

In short, the menu promises an artful, elevated experience — but what arrives at the table is more concept than craft. If you’re looking for a restaurant where the food speaks for itself, this might not be it.

My husband and I came here for our anniversary. And it was also our first time dining here. Wow we were impressed. The atmosphere was fantastic as well as the service. And OMG the food. Top notch and not your run of the mill restaurant in Decatur. It’s definitely higher end. The dishes come out looking so fancy you almost don’t wanna eat them. But don’t worry we got over that real quick. The first thing we had was the D&D Cured Salumi plate. It was so delicious and almost too much for two people to share. Good problem to have in my book. Next came our main courses. I had the pheasant dish which was absolutely incredible. And my husband had the trout which he said was insanely good. We also enjoyed the two mock tails they had on their menu. Also, very good and wasn’t just juice in a glass. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Overall, it really was a fantastic meal and we will definitely come here again in the future for more date nights. I highly recommend. And if you can sit outside, do it. There was a man playing the sax on the street and it was very enjoyable

Absolutely STELLAR experience. The price was right for the quality and unique dishes, the creativity was evident on every portion of the menu from the drinks to the small plates and beyond. The venison was absolutely the best I've ever had, the beef tongue was tart and alert, and don't sleep on the rolls, simple things done with care and attention like these rolls are worth your time!

D+D is one of my favorites restaurants in ATL. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. This farm to table restaurant has a focus on game and a flare for interesting dishes that are, at the very least, difficult to find elsewhere in the city. The starters, small plates, and entrees are well executed and there is a solid (but not over-encumbering) wine list from which to choose pairings, from Piedmont Italy to south of France. My favorite section of the menu is titled “Novelties + Such”. The adventurous eater has a seasonally rotating selection of items that often feature items such as bone marrow, snails, foie gras, and my favorite: sweetbreads. Be sure to have a craft cocktail upon seating, DO NOT skip dessert (with pairing), and keep an open mind (prioritize flavor!). This is true fine dining but instead of white table cloth, D+D offers a vibrant atmosphere that makes you excited to share with friends and visitors.

What an absolute gem. You normally have to hunt to find any of the things on the menu. Get the beef fat potatoes. Get the sweetbreads. And definitely ask for the absolute best server, Hannah. Hannah is running a master class on how to take care of a table. Loved the whole experience.

If they would allow me to set up a tent in this place, I would eat here whenever they are open. And even when they’re not.
