White Windmill Bakery and Cafe

Such a cute cafe! I think it might be too loud or not enough outlets to study at. But they have a wide variety of pastries! I also like their selection of coffee. Cake, macarons, and pastries are more on the pricier side. Their rose latte came with pretty art, but I think the strawberry refresher was kind of basic.

The cocoa powder in the tiramisu had solidified and clumps and smelled bad. It looked like it had been stored for many days, so I didn't dare to eat it.

The workers work so slow. I’ve waiting 20 minutes going 25 mins for a coffee and witness someone just order a smoothie and get it made right when it was placed. Like why are they moving so slow to just fill up a coffee grinder. Never come here if you need to grad a coffee quickly. Again witnessing other people’s drinks getting made before mine even tho I’ve been here longer.

I had to wait for 30 minutes after I ordered for them to tell me their machine was broken. Second time in a row I've been there where I could not get what I wanted / ordered.

It's been a very long time since we visited this place and recently came again per daughter's request to come hang out for drinks and doing some work. We picked out a few bakery items and try to order two drinks.

The young man at the register needs to either get better trained with customer service OR just simply having a bad day and decide to give bad attitude?

Either way, crossing this place out of our list in the future as we could easily go to Duluth area for the many choices of Asian bakery for yummy pastry & good drinks.

Pricey bakery. Expensive! The earl gray cookies taste so bland, no tea flavor in it. Other pastries definitely lack flavor as well. Drinks are expensive too.

Food and coffee are great. I had a small issue where someone took my coffee, but they quickly resolved with no issues. My only issue with the place is that there are so many kids there with laptops taking up tables. Also, I felt like my family of 5 (youngest is 1) was in the way the whole time.

For some reason, I was hoping the bakery to be an elevated version of Sweet Hut, but I find Sweet Hut as well as the Asian 7/11s to have better, or at least fresher variety.

My boyfriend got the mango bingsu, which was the best thing I tried. Generous portion of quality mango.

However, we collectively tried:
-half moon cake:
cake was crumbly and dry/likely a day+ old, not enough filling, could benefit from fruit in the filling or something else moist

-walnut chocolate chip cookie:
also dry, needed salt

-gluten free brownie:
I got this because it was one of the few chocolate options remaining. I'm very curious as the ingredients mentioned no flour or alternative - just butter, sugar, egg. Brownie was dry and crumbly and also needed salt. Don't think the recipe is any good here.

Coffee was good, but nothing I can't get anywhere else.

I don't know why I had it in my head that this would be an elevated Sweet Hut but it actually feels more like a downgrade. Would only return for bingsu (maybe)

Only 1/3 of the pastry baskets had items in them, and of those, a lot were running low. It doesn't make sense to me since the pastries tasted old and seems like you would have days of supply ready to go, especially with 3 hours left to close.

Bakery is amazing! Fresh baked bread, danish, crescents, muffins…and the list continues! Not only is there a variety but also the quality is great. Not your average size crescents…Huge ?!

It’s a quiet bakery with a variety of pastries. A good spot to study. Everything was pretty fresh. The bread and pastries are good. They have sweet and savory options, so you have something to choose from. The area where you pick out the pastries from the case is pretty narrow, so it’s hard to move around when there are a lot of people in the store.

When I initially went in the first time, I approached the counter and the two Asian women didn’t even acknowledge me for the three minutes that I stood there. I had to actually figure out the whole set up on my own through talking to the customers . When I finally figured out what to do and made my order, the lady never gave me receipt or even told me about the counter to pick it up which left me wandering around like what to do. She eventually walked up to me with a buzzer and said that I needed that to get my food then when the buzzer actually went off, and I walked back up to the counter, one of the cashier looked at me awkwardly like what do you need? I was like I’m here for my food. She was like you have to go to the sandwich counter I’m thinking nobody told me this . The hospitality there was absolutely terrible and I was a minority. I felt like it was a bit racist too if you’re going to have cashiers that don’t know how to smile and say hello to everyone that comes into the establishment were regardless of race then you’re gonna have a problem on your hand because the customer service is zero for Me. Like I felt so uncomfortable to the point I sat in my car till the buzzer went off to go into the establishment to pick up my food.
