Busy and popular so you have to wait just a bit longer for your food but soooo worth it! Staff was great and food was great. Huge everything-pancakes that barely fit the plate, huge French toast, etc! Can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I would come here for breakfast, but the service has been subpar every time our usual server, Keisha, wasn't working. Our last vist I received a dirty cup and grainy grits. On our most recent visit, I received tea that tasted like soap and my wife got scrambled eggs with a side of eggshells in them, which is completely unacceptable. We will not be returning.

I always enjoy my time at Thumbs Up. For James and all the servers are amazing. I really appreciate how they try to get the customers seated quickly and the food out fast.
Thank you guys 🙂

The eggs tastes fake like powdered eggs & they put cheese on top of scrambled eggs instead of scrambling the cheese inside of the egg. The grits are served in a small cup w/half of the cup full. Cheese cost extra but they don't explain that when you order it on certain items. The glass entry door has fingerprints on it & the floors are dirty. The place is dimly lit for a breakfast/daytime eatery. This place is basic at most, but the prices are high end.

The food is okay, pretty basic stuff, a little bland, I was surprised I needed to salt my food for it to taste better.

The food was just ok. We ordered a waffle, bacon, and potatoes. The waffle wasn't served with butter. We asked for some, but when it was brought to the table, it was frozen and basically unusable. We also had to wait a really long time for the food, and there were only 4 other tables occupied, two of which had already eaten.
The wait staff was friendly enough. Perhaps we visited on an off day.

Single, white woman beware! Walked in and stood by hostess podium, waiting to be seated. Wait staff all looked up in my direction, but no one came forward to seat me. After a couple of moments a waitress came up, asked me to have a seat while she cleaned off a table. In the meantime, a group of 3 or 4 people of color walked in, immediately a waitress came up to seat them ahead of me. The waitress that helped me came up to make the correction of the confusion. After being seated, my waitress brought my coffee. Then proceeded to check on her other customers, I waited for at least 5 to 10 more minutes. Another group was seated in her section. She couldn't scramble fast enough to bring them silverware and drinks. Still I waited...thought I had given her ample time to come and take my order. I left $5 bill on the table and left. Never to return. Sadly, racism is alive and well in Douglasville!

Thumbs Up Diners are unique to Atlanta. There are several in the Atlanta metro area. My first experience was at their East Point location when we lived a few blocks away back in 2016.

3 things I loved about this location...1) everything tastes homemade, 2) the excellent (and friendly) service, and 3) the cleanliness.

For my money Thumbs Up has the best breakfast or lunch around. I love their breakfast sandwiches on a toasted bagel. The skillets are amazing. The pancakes, french toast and waffles are all delicious and massive in size...one will fill you up...but be sure to ask for warm syrup and butter. I'm always a sucker for their grits...cheesy or with shrimp or fish...it's a southern thing. You gotta try them.

Their lunch fare is also good. All of their sandwiches are delicious.

For the sake of honesty...in 2025...after tax and tip...expect to pay at least $20/pp for breakfast. Thumbs Up might not be the cheapest place around, but it will always be one of my favorites.

I had a terrible experience at Thumbs Up Diner in Douglasville. The food was cold and honestly disgusting. What made it worse was the service. Our waitress, Temera (or Temeca ), was incredibly rude. She took my drink order while I was on an important business call, but then ignored me when I tried to place my food order—claiming it was because I was on the phone. The irony is, she had no problem taking my drink order while I was still on the call.

Because of her nasty attitude and refusal to take my order in a timely manner, it took about 45 minutes for me to get my food—and I had my child with me. I sat there and watched others who were seated after me get their food first, simply because she chose to delay mine.

To make matters worse, I saw her gossiping about me to other staff members and even the manager instead of doing her job. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful.

After this visit, I looked through other reviews and saw I’m not alone—there are several complaints about her poor customer service. Clearly, this is a pattern and not just a one-time issue.

This wasn’t my first bad visit either—the last time I came, the pancakes were awful. I gave it another chance and regretted it. I will never return, and I do not recommend this place to anyone. The food and service are both seriously lacking.

I was pleasantly surprised by the menu options, service, atmosphere and customs combinations. Shrimp And grits were great, All of the other dishes I saw being served looked one point. Is a nice spot not too far out of the way, and not so busy that you cannot get a seat.
