Maria is the maestro of meals & food preparation from the beginning to the end of the dinner!! including breakfast the next morning if you are a guest at their B&B. Exquisitely prepared meals that defy enough adjectives to describe how delicious everything is!
[Author’s Note: a review like this one is a new experience to me, although this one was made much easier due to the excellence of the place and the restaurant. Writing this helped bring back the peace and tranquility we felt at this wonderful place, so different from the chaotic and rude turmoil which surrounds us today. We hope you enjoy it in that sense and, most especially, that someday you may experience it yourself.] Our recent travels to Charleston (celebrating our Golden Anniversary!) brought us to a place in Central Georgia which we felt could be fairly compared to a kind of Shangri-La, tucked well into the gorgeous countryside of Georgia, with the added feature of one of the finest restaurants we have ever had the inestimable joy-and I use that word unashamedly!- of experiencing! I do not pretend to be a professional restaurant critic , but we have been fortunate enough to experience a number of great restaurants in our days of travel and, on the basis of that record, I will simply note our total agreement with the many—exclusively! — Five Star ratings on TripAdvisor.com for Ristorante da Maria— it is that exquisite! This magical place is Dublin Farm, located about two hours west of Savannah. The Chef and Hostess is Maria Runggaldier, a native of Italy, and the Host is her partner, Heinz Krassnig, a native of Austria. . A more charming couple is not to be found anywhere and, as one reviewer so aptly put it: “Dinner at Ristorante da Maria is not just a meal but an experience.” That so perfectly describes the way we felt after our two dinners prepared by Lady Chef Maria and I cannot imagine how one could have that experience and not return just as soon as possible! We certainly will. The story of how this international couple wound up operating a lovely B and B offering unparalleled cuisine in Central Georgia is, to put it mildly, a fascinating one. Maria, a native of Italy (Trentino-Suedtirol) , honed her cooking skills to artistic levels at a culinary school in Northern Italy. Her freshly-prepared meals are served with exceptional imagination and always draw fresh produce from local farms in the general area. Truly, inspired artistry at work! Heinz was working with a company based in Bolzano, a small town in the northern part of Italy. His job at the time was hiring and firing people and, as he explained it in an interview, “Maria came for a job interview. ‘So, then we both had a job for life,’ he said with a big smile.” They both knew they wanted to open this kind of B and B property and made three trips to the United States in search of the perfect locale. After inspecting many prospects, they selected the Dublin location and began operation in 2003. We had the joy-there is that word again!- of partaking of Maria’s cuisine on our way to Charleston and (of course!) on the return trip. Here is the menu for our dinner a few days ago: While I urge anyone interested in making a trip to Dublin Farm an Ristorante da Maria who might want to know a little more about what others think of them to read the many reviews — 35 of them at last count, all 5-Star!- to get an idea of the many superlatives their devotees use when describing their experience there, I have tried to pick one out which tells a rather full story, and here it is (by “seabean21” of Marathon, Florida): When superlative becomes the norm. An unbelievably talented chef turns every meal into a memorable feast. I'm in awe in the perfect balance that Maria hits dead on every time Nothing is ever over salted, under seasoned, or in any way less than perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. A salad with just the perfect amount of acid. Risotto, creamy comfort on a fork. Chicken over artichoke hearts, snapper flakey and delicate. Desserts....well, let's just say they're heavenly. In a relaxed but elegant setting, any meal becomes a special occasion. Bon appetit! And here is a photo of a most happy and satisfied couple of diners - our smiles are all the proof one might need — with our friends Maria and Heinz: A caveat: if you are interested in n
Such a gem and charming place. The food was absolutely delicious and the owner was so kind. Every course we had tasted amazing and I love that the menu changes weekly. There were great wine selections as well. We will definitely be back again soon.
Our dinner was so delicious!
The food was wonderful great for a night out
What a wonderful dining experience at Ristorante da Maria. It’s been way too long since we’ve enjoyed European dining, and this evening was exceptional. Wonderful service and delicious. If you enjoy fine dining, we highly recommend this little gem in the middle GA countryside.
We dined at the restaurant while staying at the bed and breakfast. The food and service were exceptional. I never had peach tiramisu before and it was great!
OMG. The food was outstanding. Customer service from Heinz and the waitresses was wonderful. Make your reservations while you can. 3 or 5 course meal depending on the day. Each course has it's own level of deliciousness. We actually plan on staying at the B&B soon. They've been in business 18 years and it shows.
This was the most wonderful weekend experience! The farm is beautiful. My meal was excellently prepared and served. The waitstaff was attentive and polite.
Food is great, service is fantastic. Great dining experience for a small area. Can be romantic. Very accommodating. You don't need to be staying at their B&B to enjoy this one-of-a-kind dining experience.

It’s been a few years, but we finally made it back to Ristorante da Maria. So glad we did. We were greeted warmly by Heinz and offered wine since we were a little early and they were not quite open. We had a spectacular meal starting with shrimp, mandarin orange, avocado and a wonderful sauce. We had an amazing risotto and then I had a wonderful pork dish and my husband enjoyed his chicken with artichoke hearts. Dessert was a tasty confection charmingly displayed and light. Very good. All throughout our meal, Heinz came by to pour wine and see how we were doing. The servers were efficient and very helpful. It’s hard to find that combination of a welcoming, charming atmosphere with great service and fantastic food. You can’t go wrong here. We will be back! I was unsuccessful adding a second picture.
Romantic, elegant 5 course meal in a beautiful setting out on a farm. Highly recommend with your loved one!
