It has been more than 20 years since I last ate here since I don't live in the area anymore. Based on my receipt, it looks the restaurant was bought out at some point but kept the same name.
I bought a lunch combo, which used to include the meal with rice, egg roll, and soup, but now the soup is not included. The meal was good, but the egg roll was overcooked and flattened somewhat, like it had been cooked on a griddle rather than fried.
I thought the lunch combo price was a bit high, only $3 less than a dinner meal without the egg roll, but the amount of food still filled me up.
The dining room is brighter and nicer than when I last ate there. However, the bench seat was uncomfortably lumpy. The staff and service was great and the food was served after a short period of time.

Sweet and sour chicken ordered. Chicken was not crispy and the sweet and sour was just sugar, water, and vinegar. Not good flavor. Mongolian beef was flavorful, but the fried noodles had been buried in sauce and they were soggy. Egg rolls are not what you expect - more like fried spring rolls. Service was very nice, and you can tell they are renovating the space.

No longer Emerald China new owners called H & M very disappointing experience.
Jacked up prices by $10.00 a dish over Emerald China Prices.
Restaurant was empty on a Sunday night at 6:00pm
Very limited menu.
Had Shrimp with Lobster sauce price $19.99
Plus had to pay extra with water down Won ton soup $4.95 very small portions more like a lunch portion way too salty.
They brought out the won ton and the entree at same time.
Shrimp was over cooked. The new owner took over 2 months ago do not think they are going to make it.
Poor service and very poor quality of food.
Said they kept the same chefs doubt it.
I have been coming to Emerald China for 22 years will not be back to H& M.

As a Vietnamese grown up in HCMC, I've been always craving for Saigon's specialties noodle soups like BĂșn MáșŻm, BĂĄnh Canh, BĂșn RiĂȘu. Emerald China did some part bring out the flavor of those dishes but I was a little bit disappointed at the amount of the toppings. I don't mind paying extra to have more protein in my bowls. Would recommended the BĂșn MáșŻm and BĂĄnh Canh.

We loved it! My wife was highly impressed! (and she's not easy to please ?) Great spring rolls and egg rolls. I got the black pepper steak, very tasty, and she got some sort of crab soup. We will be back!

This is not the same emerald China thatâs been there for decades! Thereâs clearly been a change in ownership and the quality of food and service has dropped drastically. Food no longer tastes fire grilled in a wok, but flavorless with some sauce dumped on it. Lo Mein tasted frozen and reheated with gummy meat. Egg roll is skinny and poor flavor, not filled with filling like before. Hot & sour soup always been light years above any other Chinese for decades and now average.
Service: minimal. Asked to sub a vegetable, said it was okay, and then said they didnât have what I asked for (even though itâs in almost every dish). Never got water refills/ had to approach kid who was playing games in a booth with headphones and he still wasnât aware until his mother alerted him.
If youâve always known Emerald China as a Duluth Chinese staple- change expectations, itâs a ghost of the past :(

The total average rating may be based on many years of older reviews. The Mu Shu Pork was average (3), the egg roles were good, the chicken corn soup was OK (3), the hot and sour soup was OK (3), but the Kung Pao chicken only had hot pepper and no other spices or flavor. They closed their website and ordering online caused a $2 up-charge per each item. There was one customer in the restaurant and the pick-up order was 15 minutes late.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday and the waiter was extremely rude from ordering to paying for the bill. My friend ordered beef and broccoli and the beef was not fully cooked. Food was bland. Wonât be back again.
