Jang Dok Dae

Jang Dok Dae is a super cozy Korean restaurant in Duluth near hmart! We came for dinner and shared some noodles (kalguksu), seafood pancake, and bulgogi stir fry.

Everything here was amazing and I would recommend all three dishes! The service was also fantastic and we had a good variety of banchan to share with dinner as well :)

If you’re looking for real, authentic Korean flavors, this is the spot. Every dish tasted just like a home-cooked meal my mom would make — comforting, nostalgic, and incredibly delicious. And the prices are spectacular!!! Amazing for the quality you get. A must-try! I’ll definitely be back!!!

Togo customer -unkindly-forced tipping - no good service

First, let me say that this restaurant was a little bit hard to find for non Korean speaking folks (probably because we don't read Korean😂), so we ended up driving past it at first. However, I promise that the search is worth it.

Through wooden doors, you are immediately greeted by some lovely folks who will guide you to a seat; either in an enclosed booth or out in the open.

Greeted and sat, you will be introduced to their huge menu, packed with a variety of authentic Korean dishes. We chose the kimchi stew, salad with chives and boiled pork slices, and stir fried pork in spicy sauce. We also got sides of rice, and pickled vegetables.

If you are in the mood for a place to decompress from the noise outside and recharge, come to Jang Dok Dae to get some great food. And tip well, the folks here deserve it.

Popped into this place for lunch and ordered the mackerel and tofu soup combo. 10/10!! Everything was really fresh and packed with flavor for an affordable price ($12.99). The service was friendly and speedy. Will definitely be coming back.

Comforting, Flavorful, and Truly Authentic
Jang Dok Dae is a hidden gem for Korean comfort food. I had the beef soup, and it was absolutely incredible rich and bubbly deeply flavorful broth with tender beef and perfectly balanced seasoning. It tasted really authentic in the best way possible. The side dishes were fresh and plentiful, the service was absolutely warm, and the cozy vibe made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for real Korean flavors done right, this place is a must try. I Recommend this restaurant.

I’ve been coming here for a while since the food is descent but it’s an unwelcoming and hostile atmosphere. I get glared at for asking for more water or utensils. Got bullied into leaving a 20% tip when the service was nowhere near worth that much. never coming back.

always been a go to of mine for raw marinated grab and soup. service was always adequate, nothing extraordinary but i overlooked it because of the delicious food. recently, i left a small tip (that’s all i had at the time) on a $50 bill. the waitress comes back and scolds me! practically bullying me into raising my tip bc “it’s not 18% or 20%”. mind you, the service has never been great here, and now i’m really considering not ever coming back here.

You should try this place for true Korean Gukbop such as Galbi Tang. This place is full of friendly people.

This is the first time I’ve seen a place where they arbitrarily increase the tip and rip you off… I can't take legal action because of the one-price bedding, but it's quite unpleasant and I won't go there again.
