Absolutely awesome 👌
I have been coming here regularly. Last time I went there, I walked in and I was told they had a buy out which I didn’t know, so basically I couldn’t eat my food there which is fine, however the part that really got under my skin was when they acted so bothered that I even showed up, my apologies!
It was nice doing business with you!
The fried pickles were the best I've had. Love the fries with the spicy sauce. And falafel was good too. And the frost was really flavorful. The meats were ok and the broccoli was really good!!! We sat outside which was nice and relaxing. A good spot for a chill quick bite.
Fantastic BBQ. Atmosphere is exactly what you would look for. Pinball games set on free play round out a fun time.
Brisket and turkey are exquisite. Can't wait to go back.
It was Saturday night and burnt ends special was available. We ordered the pastrami sandwich and burnt ends to share. A different server brought the sandwich and burnt ends meatloaf that was substituted without asking. I got up and found our server and let her know of the substitution. She said she would tell the manager. She brought a few burnt ends that were still left. Pastrami was incredibly salty and meatloaf was tough with an off-putting texture. The few burnt ends were drowned in sauce. Brussels sprouts were very good. Overall, we really did not enjoy our meals and have no interest in going back.
We had lunch brought in to our office last week. I tried the ribs, mac and cheese, and brunswick stew, and their barbecue sauce. I eat a lot of barbecue and competed. The brunswick stew was spot on- good tomato flavor with just enough kick without it being too overwhelming. It had chopped onion, corn, peas and no okra. Just how I like it. Wasnt sure if the meat was pork or brisket. It tasted more like brisket which is what I prefer. The ribs had good texture, not overcooked and the sauce on the side had great flavor without overwhelming the meat. Mac and Cheese was good compared to other barbecue places and I know many people love it. We make mac and cheese at home where the cheese stretches almost 1 foot with just enough creaminess, so we are spoiled and know restaurants cant replicate that. I will have to try their other items now in person.
Solid place in Dunwoody / Dunwoody to go for a great BBQ cobb salad.
Nice spot for happy hour and light bites but I weirdly haven't been crazy about the meats for some reason. They're a bit bland, but cooked very well. Sides and apps were solid as well. Fish dip and brussels were really tasty but the brisket empanadas underwhelmed me. I would recommend coming by for the 4-6 happy hour specials and sticking to that menu since I think that's the best value. When it comes to BBQ in the area, there are other places I would go, but if I had some friends wanting to just hang somewhere in Dunwoody, this is a great option.
The bbq (burnt ends) was good but expensive. Mac and cheese was a little mealy. Brunswick stew was par for the course. I wouldn't mind going through the menu a little based on the bbq.

I hosted a birthday dinner for my husband at Morty's last week.
The staff did a great job helping set up the decorations and the private area for our party. All of our guests were very impressed with the very tasty brisket, ribs and smoked turkey and all the side dishes that were made specifically for our needs. They also committed on how attentive the staff was to their needs for food and bar drinks.
The flat beard appetizers and charcuterie board were fabulous.
I can not enough about how Morty's staff made this birthday party a perfect and memorable celebration.
Don't know why I keep doing it but something makes me try BBQ when I'm outside ofTexas. This spot was near where I was staying. Has a bar area which is separated from the regular dining area. There were 9 or 10 year old kids sitting at the bar which was annoying. I literally sit at the bar not to be near kids. Anyway, the BBQ was just edible. I had brisket, Mac and slaw. Brisket was mostly dry with little flavor. BBQ sauce helped it. Mac was barely edible. Just cheese and noodles. The slaw tasted like air. I had to pour half the BBQ sauce into the slaw to make it edible. Also had wings. They were ok but the flats were broken full wings which made them boney if that makes sense. Just decent wings overall. Bar does have a solid selection of beers. They were having some kind of trivia which seemed fun. Everybody else seemed to be enjoying the barely edible BBQ so what do I know. Texas BBQ has really spoiled me. If in the area, I'd go back for trivia and beers, not food.
Really like the pastrami
Fantastic BBQ at this local restaurant. Wings with original dry rub are awesome. Plates are a lot of food but still so good.
Peanut butter pie and banana pudding are also excellent. Huge draft beer list!
Update as of 1/8/25: Had a conversation with David of the hospitality group for BarN/Mortys. He was sincerely apologetic and informed me that he would address my unpleasant experience with his team. He also extended an invitation to come back to the restaurant for a better experience. I took David up on the offer today and a good experience was had by myself and girlfriend. Thanks to the team at BarN tonight for turning this frown upside down.
Initial Review;
I used to rave about Barn, Morty’s and Message in a Bottle. No more. Tonight our service was dreadful and atmosphere was literally cold. Group of 7. Sat outside on a picnic table. No heater though other outside tables had one. Our request for a heater to the waiter fell on deaf ears. Appetizers were brough out correctly on the 2nd attempt. Had to get silverware and napkins from the bar as the waiter forgot those. Food orders in. All but one order arrived. The one order not present happened to be mine. An hour later the table had finished their meals and I got mine to go. My meal was provided at no charge but the damage done for a frequent customer is more than $18. Get it together Morty’s and Barn. There are plenty of other options now in Dunwoody.
