The setting is great and so is the staff! The wine has improved since their opening and you can make your own mind up on that, I think it’s average in a good way. The food is definitely the weak link, to say it’s inconsistent would be kind. The chicken on salads is usually dry and chewy, the sandwich bread overpowers the rest of the sandwich, etc. My impression is that their chef places a high priority on prep work and refrigeration, to the detriment of some of the dishes....
The winery has such a spectacular atmosphere. We shared a charcuterie board, a salad, and a flatbread—all of which were excellent. I loved the full-bodied white wine recommended by the bartender, while he enjoyed a cider that began with Bosch notes. Everything was amazing, especially with the butterflies fluttering around.
It's safe to say my wife and I have been to nearly all of the North Georgia, East Tennessee, and North Carolina vineyards and wineries (with North Georgia being probably being the go-to hotspot east of the Mississippi River). This was our most recent stop after a hiatus, and I can surely tell you Georgia's newest is already one of the best. Roo Mountain Vineyards truly is Napa-ish and Sonoma-ish in class and scale, brought all the way over to the trendy South East wine...
