My first time going and the red velvet cupcake and red velvet ice cream was sooooo good! An hour away from me but I will drive out there just for the deliciousness!

Pros: The place is small but was nicely decorated. When we arrived, the only customers there were my daughter and I. We loved the pretty pink-decorated Christmas tree at the entrance. The young lady who took my order seemed friendly. The wedding cupcake was delish.. moist, thick, fulfilling and just the right amount of almond.
Cons: Not much of a variety of flavors to choose from. A single cupcake costs $5.99 and for a half dozen, it came to $33 + change - that is much too steep of a price for either a single or (6) cupcakes. The ‘chocolate cream’ (I think the name was) had a fudge frosting and was supposed to have white buttercream filling. It’s unfortunate bc my daughter ate the entire cupcake and there was no filling.. the fudge frosting was also a bit too heavy on top of the chocolate cupcake. The cupcakes need better variety & better presentation - they all looked kind of plain they just need some pizazz and more flavors. Overall, I don’t feel it was worth the price.

My husband and I visited the store yesterday December 12, 2025. It was 20 minutes before closing. He was in the office when we walked in. He had the worst customer service. I spoke to him and he acted as if it killed him to speak back. He definitely do not need to be working the front counter. Please train him or let him go. Customer service is everything. We will definitely NOT be back to this location. The first impression is a lasting one. The cupcakes were super delicious though.

My husband & I were in the mood for a sweet treat and were so excited to find this bakery close by. The accolades in the window really hyped us up.
We were disappointed by the young man who serviced as though. He lacked any type of hospitality and he spoke in the lowest tone I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. I was unimpressed and turned off so I didn’t get anything.
My husband still got his birthday cake cupcake which he enjoyed. The tasty treat was overshadowed by the service. I probably will choose to go else where because nowadays spending money on desserts outside is a luxury. I pray that he gets the proper training so that their business doesn’t suffer.

Well decorated location, ice cream was awesome, cupcake moist, frosting too sweet, service meh - the young man looked like he would rather be doing anything else in life than that job.

This is my second time trying Smallcakes and I really want to like them but the cupcake to frosting ratio is terrible. The flavors were lacking and unpleasant.
The young man at the counter seemed like he rather be somewhere else. No hello or other greeting.
That was the last visit.

Hard and honest review. I wanted to give them 5 stars, but just couldn’t do it! First of all, this was my first time going to this cake shop. It wasn’t my first choice either, but after my favorite spot was sold out of my go to cake, my fiancé suggested this place. Keep in mind, I’ve passed by here a million of times and the place always seemed busy, but when you are stuck in your ways and you like what you like, you rarely step out side of the box and try something new. I was in desperate need of something sweet. I had received some bad news the day before and really wanted some sweet comfort food to get my mind off things. To my surprise, It was sort of a family affair. I was able to get a cup cake with my favorite flavor , my fiancé wanted ice cream and they had that. They even had doggy treats, so we got one for his dog as well. So here’s the thing, the cup cake was delicious, yet small, just as much icing as cup cake, if you like that sort of thing (I get it -small cake- the name of the shop) I still wish it was bigger. The ice cream was pretty decent.. The dog can’t really talk, but the way he drooled and kept licking his lips, I would say, it was good as well. Everything sounds good so far right… Well here comes the hard part, why I could not give them five stars or feel I could Patronize there again….When I pay for something (in this case it was my Fiancé who paid) I expect good customer service, a friendly smile, greeting when you come in the establishment or something/anything to make you feel like you made the right choice by coming here. Now I did say in the beginning the reason I came there in the first place because I recently got bad news and when you get bad news the last thing you need is to be in an environment that is not pleasant or friendly…well in my opinion the atmosphere nor the customer service was good and that’s why I couldn’t give them a perfect 5 out of 5. I’m just big on the small things and a simple smile, have a nice day or see you the next time could have gone a long way in making my bad news better and the food that much better. Instead, engaging with the cashier who took our order was very exhausting and not an over all pleasant experience. Definitely go there for the food and not the service. He could have had a bad day, I know I did. However; First impressions are lasting impressions, especially in business.

I received a half dozen vegan strawberry cupcakes as a birthday gift. Unfortunately, they tasted undercooked, the binding agent made the cupcakes tast gummy rather than cake-y. This batch isn't edible.
I usually love small cakes, but the young man had zero enthusiasm. My cupcake was not moist at all. Almost as if it was old. The ice cream was pretty good though. I’ll stick to my original location in Stockbridge.

No problem with the desserts but you guys better teach your staff how to engage with other human beings and not stand there looking dumb and numb. I walked in the young male cashier named Jason looked at me like I had three heads….. I said hello he said nothing I said something is wrong with us. It’s like you try to support small business but when you get those bad feelings like that, makes you not wanna come back
