I was in the mood for some soul food and I haven’t been since before the fire🔥The last experience was trash and this time was trash again 🗑️ yuck 🤮 I think the grandma who cooking left or died either way the food was horrible and how do you give cranberry sauce as a side in a sample cup??? I am disappointed in the watery mac and cheese flavorless black eyed peas and can greens. The new look is a mask for this nursing home food.

Great experience. Small place yet great for a quick meal. I've heard it was much better in the past but I'm not complaining. Not my Mom's or Grandma's cooking but it's much better than other places that I've gone to that says great southern cooking.

The Banana pudding was horrible they say no refund or exchange so I left it on the counter for them to put in their trash where it belongs and left the receipt for them to I would be afraid to buy anything else from John’s fine food on Jonesber Road my $5 lost not again you food doesn’t measure up to your name Jackie

You are going to be very disappointed with this place. Ever since the owner died, the staff has been doing everything possible to run customers, especially customers who have been going there consistently for over 35 years away. I wanted to give them a chance before posting a review, but clearly they are not interested or concerned about customer satisfaction. They are hiring people who destroys the customer experience and there's no one to complain to. This place has excellent food but you have to use a lot of cuss words to deal with the workers. They argue with you and ready to fight if they really get pissed off. Now you can't see the food you are purchasing because they have closed off visual buffet line which means you will get what they give you. The last 2 years I have been going, I have complained to security and they tell me that the new environment that place has become. Either you accept it or go somewhere else. Whoever ideal it was to CHANGE your menu ,needs to be removed from the decision making table. Removing butter beans, lima beans, red beans, and whatever else from the menu, got your business slow and your parking lot empty. If it ain’t broke , don’t fix it . The food is delicious, but the variety is why I would come. Fix it please …….

Today is Sunday August 17,2024. I usually don't eat any food from John's. Except the peach cobbler and cornbread. OK so I usually go in close to noon to beat the crowds. We'll this is the 4th Sunday that I have drove 10 miles to get peach cobbler, only to be told that there is none. Then I usually get cornbread for $.50 a slice and now I have been told that it is .75 a slice, and it decreased in size. John'sfood has definitely deteriorated over the years, and he does not keep the menu items that customers like. Now the best thing that he has is the security team, and the way he is robbing people with those prices, and not so tasty food, I am sure that he needs them.

Ordered smothered chicken, yams, and mac n cheese. Where is it smothered? I thought smothered meant gravy?? Then the yams were bitter n mac was salty. We use to come 3-4 times a week but since Mr. John not running it the food n service has went down. Prices went up but not the quality of food . Last time I'll drive 25 mins for meh food. Then I was home so didnt feel like going back up to complain.

You all have remodeled the place, now the customer got to stand in line and order food that we can't even see!!! We may as well sit down and order the food and THEN PAY!!! I refuse to stand in line and pay for food I can't even look at!!! This is Crazy

This place has undergone new management and changes, the menu has changed along with the service, you no longer get the experience of watching your food be prepared before you select. The portions size are smaller as well now. Probably won’t be here as much as I use to before these changes. It’s no longer the legacy of Mr. John for sure.
