BEST hamburger and onion rings I've had in years!! The burger is moist and practically melts in your mouth. The onion rings are fried without much batter, dee-licious. Atmosphere is perfect and staff is too!

we had a great meal here when we were unexpectedly in downtown Gainesville. great burgers, great fries and even took care of my two security guards.

Classic American diner that has been in business since 1947. Went here for lunch with a friend a few days ago. I was impressed with the modern/1950’s atmosphere inside. There were also old Gainesville High School sports memorabilia on the walls which was pretty unique. I ordered their special of the day which was a “Texas” burger that contained a single beef patty with cheese, 2 fried onion rings, and some bbq sauce. It also came with fries and a drink. My friend had a simple bacon double cheeseburger along with a milkshake. I also added a cheese dog to try. Both of our burgers were delicious with the meat being juicy. Fries were cooked to perfection. The milkshake was old fashioned in appearance, but was great nonetheless. Overall, the food and service was great in this retro/modern diner that is definitely a Gainesville classic!

Great place to eat fresh food. They have gotten a little pricey on the menu especially since they took the waitress away and reduced the amount of employees. I liked it better with the waitress because it felt more personal to be there.

Stopped in from the bookstore and the burgers were very delicious. Loved the vibe of the place. Wish we lived closer would stop by more often.

Very expensive for basic grill hamburgers and hot dogs. Could be the reason the number of people has decreased from prior visits.

I grew up with the Collegiate, and I’m not home until I go get lunch there. The food quality has not changed over the last 50 years.
