Best salsa I’ve ever had, the sour cream is the perfect combination. The Kali-Formica burrito is a plate full.

I recently visited El Maguey with a couple of friends for dinner, and it turned out to be a pretty solid night out. From the moment we sat down, the place felt warm and welcoming — not overly fancy, just comfortable, friendly, and unpretentious. The ambiance had that laid‑back, family‑run charm that’s often missing in newer chain‑style restaurants.
We started things off with chips and salsa plus guacamole, which were good signs: fresh chips, flavorful salsa, and guac that tasted homemade. For dinner, we ordered a mix — a sizzling fajita platter and a classic burrito combo. The fajitas came out hot and sizzling with plenty of meat and veggies; tortillas were warm and soft. The burrito was huge and filling — generous portions all around, so we definitely left with full bellies.
One thing I appreciated was the balance of tradition and simplicity. El Maguey isn’t trying to be fancy or trendy: it sticks to good Mexican comfort food done right. The flavors were honest and satisfying — nothing overblown, but everything tasted genuine.
Service was friendly and laid‑back. The staff checked in enough to make sure we were good, without hovering. We felt welcome, and not rushed — which made it easy to take our time, chat, and enjoy the meal.
Overall, El Maguey gave me exactly what I was hoping for: solid Mexican food in a cozy, unpretentious space. Good for a casual dinner with friends or family, a relaxed night out, or just when you’re craving something hearty and familiar. I’d definitely come back the next time I want reliable Mexican comfort food.

El Maguey is consistent every time we go. The food is fresh, their steak is quality, and the service is always top notch. My husband and I searched and searched for a good Mexican restaurant after moving here 3 years ago and El Maguey hits every mark, every time. We love love their food!
