We were looking for good pupusas in the Gainesville area and came here based off the positive reviews. I tried the horchata which was delicious and refreshing, not overly sweet. I tried the corn tamal and a couple of bites of the empanada. The corn tamal was one of the best I've had! It was flavorful and not dry at all. The empanada was perfectly sweet. I also tried the yuca with chicharron. I didn't love the chicharron but the yuca with the fresh, crunchy curtido was sooo good! I ordered 2 bean and cheese pupusas and I was very happy with the taste, especially with the mild tomato salsa and the curtido. I recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Salvadoran food!

El Sabor de Oriente is a hidden gem in Gainesville!
It’s a cozy, local spot serving authentic El Salvador food that’s always delicious. After church on Sundays, it’s our go-to place. I usually order the breakfast (which is amazing), or sometimes we go for the soup—both are packed with flavor. My wife loves it too, and our kid is all about the pupusas! If you’ve never had Salvadoran food before, this is the perfect place to start. Highly recommend!

First time buying here and I do not recommend the chicken with slices the chicken was tough Black and stiff as if it were a chicken from 2 days ago horrible I hate having to spend my money on something that I could not eat there were 3 orders and in all three orders there was no We were able to eat chicken ? if you don't know how to make this Honduran dish, don't do it. And removing it from the menu leaves Honduran food very bad.

Food and service was excellent. It was $18 for 4 pupusas and a drink.... I'll try other Salvadoran restaurants

To begin with, the breaks leave a lot to be desired, no flavor or cheese, I really didn't like them. The horchata that I ordered has no flavor, it's just color, the roast chicken was delicious, the broth was two out of three, I simply give it two stars because it lacks a lot of flavor. But try it yourself to really know if it's worth it.

Pupusas we’re very savory. Chicharrón con yuca was outstanding. The beef soup was good but could use more seasoning.
