I mean i hate to write this review because I know this is a staple around Gainsville. The only reason that is as far as I'm concerned is because there is nothing but old people eating here who probably have no taste buds left. The food is extremely overpriced and extremely bland. I got a grilled chicken breast with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans. This came out to over $12. The mashed potatoes had absolutely no flavor and they had gravy on them. And the chicken breast was dry and overcooked. This is mediocre cafeteria food and this place causes traffic jams for this. Honestly shouldn’t even be in business at this point.

It used to be an awesome place for home cooking , good value , and great service at both locations . What happened? Do they have new ownership? The food has been less than our last couple stops and even when we ate inside the restaurant . Today we got home with our food and there’s was ZERO banana in their famous banana pudding ! It was basically something other than pudding congealed between a boatload of crackers. And, yes their banana pudding is famous !! It earned that title with us locals !! I’m not sure what happened over the years . We came home with three ! I hope the other two aren’t as scarce . And, the employees seem like they more bothered by taking and filling an order and they would be okay if we spent money elsewhere . Please again — know that Longstreet Cafe has been a staple for us for several years . The mac and cheese isn’t mac and cheese anymore it’s something either frozen or from a can ! We miss the warm feeling of being welcomed and the atmosphere of “family” dining and a “family” owned business . Again, I waited it out to see if we had hit an off day but several visits later and we are wondering what happened ...

You know you're in the South when you find a fabulous,
"Meat & 3!" I've been going there for 25+ years!
A can't miss for either,
Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner.
Country cooking at its best!

I have come to Gainesville for the last 28 year's and I have never heard of this place. The food is amazing, made with perfection and the kindness from the staff is off the charts. I'm going to make it my business to eat here at least once a month! Their fried chicken ? is everything! And their cherry ? pie ? almost made me pass out from pure delight. ? Thank you so very much for the food and great service!

Vegetarian options: The butter beans are everything! The broccoli ? was so tasty! And the cornbread made me grab my heart! ? ? ? ?

I have been going to Longstreet Cafe at least once a week since it opened. I understand that inflation has caused prices to be higher. Longstreet has been our go to place on Thursdays for chicken livers and fried squash. The chicken livers are now $5.55 for eight livers and most of what is being served are pieces, not whole livers. The fried squash is now mostly onions, with very little squash. I have personally seen a lowering of quality over the past two years. From now on I will drive the extra 15 miles to go to Lorettas, especially on Thursdays.

They were absolutely packed out today at lunch! There were barely any available parking spots. But they have a drive-thru! I spent a total of maybe 7 min ordering, paying, and receiving my food!

The portions were plenty and the food is delicious! Highly recommended!!

IM DEVISITATED. I WONT RETURN! A SAD ? ? day. It's been a while since I've been able to enjoy a plate from longstreet Cafe in GAINESVILLE, GA (first location). No matter how far I move from this place I always make a point to stop whenever I'm in the area, whether hungry or not. I'm very picky about what I eat, so I have always got the exact plate with maybe extra rolls. My MEAL: Fried Chicken Breast N Wing, Double Mac N Cheese, with a roll or 4 lol. WHY DID YOU MESS UP THE MAC N CHEESE WITH THE CAN CHEESESAUCE INSTEAD OF HOMEMADE MAC N CHEESE???? Homemade mac n cheese isn’t orange in color, that’s the 1st issue (except the perfect top layer of cheese melted from being baked in the oven). Second y'all should not waste any shredded cheese on top of that cooked pasta and a CAN OF CHEESESAUSE. It doesn't help and not fooling anyone. When I saw what I had been given from the place I have always spoke so highly about. Real homemade mac n cheese I can have it by itself and be extra happy. It's one of those things you enjoy but everytime I try to do it mine is never like the ones that told me how the did it lol. I'm not mad and this isn't meant to be mean. Whomever owns this business knows they have so many that it doesn't bother and you have the business and always have had. One of my favorite places since the age of 16 and I went twice in a day when I lived in the area which was about 16 years. It's your business I completely understand because it goes so quick and takes time to prepare. I don't like the picture below but it shows it better. I wanted to show I was telling the truth. I gave my son the mac n cheese you see is missing from photo. He will eat it and loves when I can't eat what I got lol.

Cafeteria style restaurant. You walk through the food line & add what you want on your plate. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach so it's nice to get a to go box as well lol. I think the food is a little bland but that allows them to cater to most people's taste. They have salt & pepper on the tables & all sorts of sauces available when you sit down. The sweet tea is delicious. The service was great and the gentleman playing the clarinet was also very nice, not too loud. We went on a Saturday night at 5ish. The parking lot looked really busy but when we got inside the line was short & moved quickly. There were also plenty of tables.
