Good was delicious in a cute German inspired setting.

I could hear the microwave in the kitchen, which wasn't a good sign.

the goulash tasted like canned American beef stew and had no authentic flavors, the red cabbage was from a can, there was random cranberry sauce on the plate (also from a can), and potatoes (the best part sadly). thankfully, it was cheap. I forgot to take a photo because I was so hungry I devoured it, even if it didn't taste very good

After spending way too long waiting for the alpine coaster, we were desperate for a pretzel. The place around the corner from here that doesn't have any posted hours had apparently just closed. With a tired kid and no other options between us and our car, it looked like we were out of luck. Bodensee was right next to us, but it was closed. However, diners were still being served, and a guy was oomping on a tuba outside. My wife suggested asking if we were too late for a pretzel to go. I walked in and asked a server (whose name I didn't get), and she was more than happy to help. After I placed my order, another kind woman (Manager? Owner? She seemed to be in charge, in any case) invited us to stay and eat, though they were officially closed. We declined, as we just wanted our pretzel, but I truly appreciated the gesture. (This was the evening of July 5, a very busy Saturday for everyone in Helen.)

Lemme tell you: This pretzel was fantastic. Crispy outside, fluffy inside, and huge. The beer cheese was exactly what we were expecting (i.e., delicious), but I might have actually liked the mustard more. I don't know what was in it, but something sweet balanced out the sharpness and spice. I could eat it with a spoon.

We didn't get to have a proper meal here, but we'll be sure to correct that next time we're in town.

Food was excellent and tasty. They have only one vegetarian food for lunch. If you are certain people who don’t eat beef or bacon ask for options

Outstanding Service, Food and atmosphere.
We ordered a piping hot pretzel w cheese and authentic German Mustard for a quick appetizer along w our beer/cocktail (both cold and refreshing).
Our waitress was totally on board answering our questions and assisting us in our menu selections.
The Hungarian Goulash arrived beautifully presented with fresh Spatzel and perfectly sautéed and seasoned Red Cabbage
The Grilled Chicken Breast was a large entree which was accompanied by steamed vegetables and Sauerkraut.
Beverages were refilled promptly.
A fairly priced well presented and amply portioned meal served by a happy person in a great atmosphere on a beautiful rainy evening :)
This is a quality establishment w great authentic German Food and great customer service!

By far the best Authentic German food in Helen, Ga...we've been coming to Helen for 35 years (as Loreley Resort timeshare owners) so it's safe to say we've tried bout every eatery and seen a lot come then go...this one will stay forever because their product is superb...German fare the way it was meant to taste!
I recommend the House Sampler...OMG!! The Knockwust, garlicwurst, the smoked pork chop, red cabbage, german potato salad, sauerkraut, German mustard...its incredible!
2025 update: Try the French Onion soup soaking in crusty bread and melty cheese and the Trout Appetizer is a good size portion of Trout. Their spaetzel is the bomb. Hubby had the pork chop and sausages...divine. Save space for dessert too..of course German Chocolate cake but there's 8 other cakes and torts including my favorite the strawberry shortcake cheesecake. Oh and not to forget to try a stein of German beer..this place is a must for delectable food. When you're done maybe take a carriage ride round town...see video..enjoy!

The food is delicious but very expensive for a very small amount, but what is worth mentioning is the poor service. They treat you very rudely and complain that you are there. They make comments among themselves. I regret having left a tip. Luckily I left little due to the treatment.

"I’m deeply disappointed and disturbed by this restaurant.

My friend, who is Ukrainian and speaks English as her second language, was mocked by the owner for her accent and politely asking if something could be done about her meal. It's hard to believe that someone would behave this way, especially here in America, where respect and tolerance are valued. No one should be treated like this, especially by a business owner. I urge others to think twice before supporting a place that shows such disrespect.

People like this don’t deserve the privilege of serving a community."

We sat on the spacious enclosed porch. We were entertained by the roaming band. Our meals of pork and chicken schnitzel, jager gravy and spatzle German noodles. ? Recommend!!

When you go to Helen, you expect three things: sky high prices, slow and lackluster wait staff, and fantastic German food. This place hit two out of three expectations...sadly excellent German food wasn't one of those things. For nearly $90 for lunch you'd expect good food. It was ho-hum at best. The kraut tasted as if it was straight from a can. All of the pork was overcooked and dry. The spaetzle was flavorless and doughy. Their gypsy gravy needs to move on to the next town as it does nothing to enhance flavors. Their German potato salad was just aweful. Were this my first time having German food, I would never want to eat German food ever again.
