When we first sat down a waiter approached and listed off the day's specials, one of which was $3 draft beer. This sparked my son's attention so he ordered a draft beer. In a nonchalant manner our waiter asked if my son would like his beer in a mug. He said sure although he didn't care if it came in a glass or a mug. After he drank half of it we found out that the plastic mug the draft beer came in could be kept as a souvenir and the $3 draft beer he thought he ordered was $15. We all know Helen is a tourist trap town, especially during Oktoberfest, but we didn't expect to be so expertly and quickly taken advantage of at the first place we entered. Their hamburgers were fine, reasonably priced and cooked as ordered. The $17 crab cake sandwich is to be avoided until someone learns how to put a little crispiness to the outside of the bready crab sludge that is supposed to pass as a crab cake. The brioche roll on everyone's sandwich was refrigerator cold. We've been coming to Helen for over 50 years and always loved it, but after this trip we don't think we'll be back. It's just not the same as it used to be. Too bad.

We ordered a grilled cheese and the cheese wasn't even melted. How do you screw up a grilled cheese?

Really enjoyed it here! Got to sit outside under a heater while a musician reminiscent of Willie Nelson sang and played in a corner. Service was great and the food didn’t miss. Gouda grilled cheese with bacon, fried green tomatoes, hush puppies, Philly cheesesteak, fries. All excellent and perfect for a cold night.

Best restaurant we visited while in Helen. Every other restaurant left much to be desired. Not sure if it’s because it’s such a tourist town but the food everywhere else was bad. Cowboys & Angels was delicious, with excellent service. I got the rainbow trout, with the two sides (I picked a sweet potato and sliced tomatoes). It was soooo good, fish was seasoned and baked perfectly, and the sweet potato was huge and it was a baked sweet potato with the option of butter and cinnamon on the side which was great. Tomatoes were fresh and tasty. My husband got one of the burgers (truffle burger?) and asked for it medium rare, and it was actually cooked to perfection just as he asked! My daughter got the chicken Alfredo and it was amazing. The pasta was a corkscrew macaroni and it was loaded with very fresh tasting white cheeses and butter. Extra bonus the chicken was actually cooked perfectly and not dry (impressive for kids menu chicken in pasta). Our server was Jack and he was great. Super attentive and friendly and fast. If we are ever in the area again we will be sure to visit!

Our server jack was amazing and I cannot recommend the Gouda pimento cheese enough! I would come back just for that.

The food was phenomenal. I got the scallops, and for the price we paid, I thought I would have gotten more than just two scallops. Service was super slow, but we were not in a hurry, so it was ok, but if we were on a schedule to he somewhere it would have been problematic. The table next to us had some pretty rude folks that didn't like us for some reason. We ignored their behavior and they left before ordering. The restaurant had no control over their behavior, and it could have been the restaurant that had them leave.I honestly don't know because we totally ignored them. We just kept seeing them out of our corner of our eye due to their antics. You're gonna have those kind of people everywhere you go, the restaurant had nothing to do with that experience.

Our waiter jack was absolutely awesome and very knowledgeable to the whole menu .
Outstanding customer service and a great since of humor...will definitely ask for him on my next trip there.

I read the back of the menu about how this place got its start and their expectations. Those words can be easy to simply put on the back of the menu but this restaurant exceeded my expectations. The ribeye was the best that I’ve had in quite a while and it was cooked to perfection. My wife had the filet and the same was true for her meal. No regrets! In the words of Arnold, “I’ll be back”! I failed to mention that our server, BJ, was awesome as well. Highly recommended

Fabulous spot. Sat outside under the heaters for lunch and it was very comfortable. It’s early November with the fall leaves so beautiful in the area and a crisp breeze in the air. The weather is perfect for sitting outside to eat.
Sweet tea is fabulous here. So good. I got half and half and it was still delicious. Not too sweet
I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese. They were very generous with the cheese - lots of melted cheese. I took that off and ate it by itself The chicken piece was huge. I could only eat half of it It came with French fries that were also good Nice and crisp and not greasy.
My husband ordered the bleu cheese hamburger which looked so good too. It had the right amount of blue cheese. He said it was very good. Came with fries or coleslaw which they were out of but no matter, he wanted fries anyway
Service was wonderful. Very friendly. Price was reasonable Atmosphere fabulous. Not too crowded at the time we were there.
