Das Ice Cream Cafe

I recently visited this ice cream shop with my family, and while the ice cream itself was average, the customer service was extremely disappointing. The flavors were fine but nothing remarkable – just your standard fare you’d find anywhere else. However, what stood out most was how unwelcoming the staff were.

Midway through our visit, an employee rudely approached our table and asked us to leave, claiming our children were “too loud.” This was baffling, as the children were behaving perfectly appropriately for the lively, casual atmosphere of an ice cream shop. It felt completely uncalled for and left us feeling unfairly singled out.

An ice cream shop should be a family-friendly place, but this experience was far from that. If you’re looking for a warm, inviting spot to enjoy a treat with your family, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. A smile and some patience go a long way—both were missing here.

OH MY GOSH! This is the best ice cream I've ever had! Be sure to try Coffee Toffee...it is da bomb!! And very cool that they use local coffee to make the ice cream. If I were going to be in town longer, I would try Lava Flow because it sounds delicious. If you want to try something different, they also have liquor infused ice cream. You definitely must stop in and grab a scoop or two if you are in Helen!

The four of us had the ice cream that contained alcohol and it was delicious. The flavors were wonderful and the ice cream was the creamiest. They have non alcoholic ice cream as well. So happy we tried it. It's a small space with very little indoor and outdoor setting.

If you are looking for great quality, homemade ice cream, this is it!! We have been coming to Helen for over 3 years now and i cant believe i didnt find this location sooner. I can't stand the other ice cream options in town that come in the premade tubs, yuck! At Das Ice Cream, there are so many unique flavors to choose from, but they are rotated seasonally and with availability so keep that in mind when visiting. I absolutely LOVE the ice cream flight option because it is so hard for me to choose only one flavor to eat! My fiancé and I both got a flight so we could taste more options. My personal favorites were the peach flavor and praline, but they were all delicious! The hot lava was very unique. It is a spicy chocolate flavor that has a little heat after you swallow it...very interesting! I liked trying it in the small size but it was a little too spicy for me to get a whole cone! There are also dairy free options which are more like a sorbet. I did try the strawberry dairy free and it was very good! It was refreshing and tasted like biting in to a fresh strawberry. Perfect for a hot day. I highly recommend!

My husband enjoyed trying the alcohol- infused ice cream flavors. I had the Oreo ice cream, and believe the hype….it’s AMAZING (I am a cookie lover). The whole thing is Oreo, not just vanilla with Oreos in it (as people say)

Have you truly experienced ice cream if you haven’t indulged in Das? It’s nothing short of extraordinary! We sampled four incredible flavors, and let me tell you, Strawberry Fields transported me straight back to my childhood. There’s a certain kind of magic in this ice cream that you simply have to taste to believe.

And for the adventurous adults, the Pina Colada and Bourbon Pecan flavors are a must-try! You can savor the delightful hint of alcohol without any harsh burn—just pure really well made ice cream with high quality ingredients.

Very over priced very normal icecream,and who ever maybe owner that deleted your reply to me you are wrong your icecream is very very very over priced and it's nothing special like I said,,Jack up prices for tourists and not offer locals a discount is absurd,,I'm assuming the man I met on my visit was the owner ,, very rude and pushy,,nobody in line but my family and rushed us so her could get back to whatever he was doing on his phone very unprofessional,,and again very normal icecream,, wouldn't suggest visiting this location unless you like to waste ?
