We ate here twice while visiting Helen, GA. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food is amazing. The corned beef hash was the best I have ever eaten. The biscuits and gravy were awesome as well. Highly recommend.

Went in today for breakfast around 10:00am. The line was fairly short, with a party of 4 and a party of 3 in front of us. We waited in line for 20 minutes, still not too bad. A party of 4 was sat, and then a table opened for the three people in front of us. BUT NOPE. As we listened to the conversation, the rest of the party was still arriving, parking their cars. The party of three turned into a party of 12 and the staff waited as each finally showed up and sat them ahead of everyone else in line. Taking three tables from other customers waiting. The rule has ALWAYS been, who is in LINE is next. Had we known that the staff would overlook the remaining customers we would have not stayed. Not slow service! No service

For my final stay in Helen, I decided to have breakfast. Parking was atrocious and the wait was even more horrendous.. 45 minute wait!

The menu was not all that inspired. It was your basic standard fare with a few nods to German influences...which isn't bad if you're good at executing the dishes perfectly. Sadly, tue cooks that day were not up to the job. When the fresh fruit garnish is the best thing on the plate...you've got problem.

I had corned beef hash with fried eggs on top. The eggs came unseasoned...which I see as a major offense. The so-called "hash" was a weird sort of creamy pancake where the little giblets of the corned beef acted like flour. The potatoes were done in a teeny-tiny dice and over cooked to the point they fell apart with any resistance. Then there was this overpowering creamy onion flavor. While this hash pancake monstrosity was fried on both sides, the moisture from the inside quickly destroyed any crispness. It was just this soft, wet, creamy onion nastiness rather than a quality corned beef hash.

They serve rolls on the side. Their baked goods looked great so I had high hopes that the rolls would deliver. Yet again, they failed me. The rolls were tiny and so hard one could break a tooth. Moreover, they lacked flavor. It made me not want to buy any of their baked goods if they lacked the sufficient finesse needed to make a suitable roll.

Even the coffee was bad. It evidently is a "German" coffee that tastes as bitter angry as the German language sounds.

Unlike most restaurants in Helen, the wait staff moved more quickly than most. To put things in perspective, they moved like wait staff in other cities on a slack business day. Which, for Helen, is considered very attentive. In truth, the only redeeming thing about this place is the wait staff.

All-in-all, when you fail to do simple things you erode trust in consumers to buy more complex things. Everything looked pretty but failed in every other aspect. This caused me not to want to buy any of the other items they had foe sale like the cakes and tortes and danishes...even though they looked amazing.

Came around 9:20 for breakfast. Restaurant section was slammed.
Meanwhile: A.) 4 ladies standing around at the bakery counter doing the job of one, serving one cust at a time. B.) 3 ladies out back at the parking lot smoking cigarettes.
I work in this industry and what I saw was pathetic and unprofessional. A classic example of the negative side of the southern labor market.

I got there at 11:30 and didn’t get seated until 1:05 which is really ridiculous especially because they had opened tables. The food was okay nothing special and there is a clear lack of good customer service (especially the lady with short hair who I guess wasn’t taught to say excuse me).

Breakfast place first choice in Helen. Long wait today, almost 2 hours. Food was good and large portions. I thought it was worth it. My 85 year old mother not as sure. Next time we will get there earlier.

This was a nice German bakery and Cafe. There is a bakery counter to the left when you walk in with sweets and breads. To the right is a meat counter. It stayed busy with a line out the door but we arrived just in time to be in line just inside the door. We had the alpine french toast with sausage and coffee - delicious, filling, affordable. The entire menu looked appetizing. The host and server were both polite and friendly despite how busy things were. There is also a small area with gifts and pantry items for purchase.

1st time eating at a German restaurant and it did not disappoint. I had Hanchen Schnitzel with Spatzle and my sister had a rueben sandwich. I also stopped by the bakery and got several different things and it was all delicious.
