First and foremost, this location is not very handicap accessible. The entrance is literally at the base of a hill covered in sawdust. Staff offer encouragement to people with mobility issues and on nice days you can stop at the picnic tables outside, but honestly... If you have trouble walking, visit another location.
Regarding the food and service... Our party's opinions were staunchly divided. The discontented felt that everything was chopped and blended into mush. The vinegar heavy sauces being the only options was also panned. Counter service was fast, but did mean more self service than some liked. Those who were pleased with the experience loved the flavor and the finer texture of the meat and vegetables. Everyone working at the restaurant was pleasant and efficient. The one thing everyone agreed on was that the atmosphere was the best part, provided you could reach the interior. In the end, it is fair to say this barbecue is a bit overrated in the culinary world. Still, it has enduring popularity with locals for a reason; if it is to your tastes, you won't be able to get enough. FYI, the also offer catering options on pre-order, but spots fill up around the holidays.

I've been eating here since I was a little boy. 55 years or so. We drive 2.5 hrs to eat there. Always get a Family pack to go. Get extra sauce and a extra Brunswick stew. The 2 best in the state of Georgia are fresh air and pippins in conyers. I've ate at many many places (BBQ) and I rate these as the best.

The BBQ is delicious with a tangy vinegar-based sauce, the slaw is nice and sweet, and it is the best Brunswick Stew money can buy. The building itself has an unrivaled atmosphere that comes from 95 years of BBQ smoke in the same wooden building (if you don't believe me, look at the different colors on the inside and outside of the bathroom doors)
