Arrived at opening, to no hostess in sight, but still in sight of other workers. Were not acknowledged until other customers arrived. Waitress seemed rushed and unfriendly. Loaded baked potato soup was cold. Tried cornbread skillet appetizer, very disappointed with not even a half inch thick six inches wide dry cornbread for $7.99 . The meatloaf sandwhich had the mushy consistency of wet dog food, tasted like unseasoned fatty greasy meat. Wasn't first time we have been disappointed, will not come again. Offered to pay so I could leave and eat elsewhere, waitress insisted on bringing a manager who basically rolled his eyes and said he would cover the bill.
Horrible. You are taken to your table and then a list is read to you of all the items they don’t have. We were going have to drink water with our meal because they were basically out of all soft drink products. I can stay at home and eat bread and water. And then they get an attitude because they are trying to pass their problems of not having proper inventory on to me and I have the choice of eating somewhere else. Went to Waffle House. Always a good meal. Follow the Fatz in Blairsville decision. Shut the doors.
The times we've dined, they seem to be short-staffed, but just about everything we've had made it worthy of a return. If you enjoy chicken tenders, they truly are the most tender. Nice selection of appetizers, as well. One suggestion: keep some malt vinegar on-hand for those that order fish & chips, please!
First off, the waitress was amazing and extremely apologetic. The food was decent. Zero air conditioning inside the building. Temperature was close to 85° inside and has been this way for months. Corporate refuses to have the units fixed and could care less about the staff or customers. Staff was having to seat customers towards the front of the building because the area was the coolest. Walk towards the back, and it is a sauna. Poor kitchen staff have got to be miserable. It would be one thing if the unit had just gone out but was advised that it has been this way for at least 3-4 months.
Great food at reasonable prices. My server was snatching everything up since she was nearing the end of her shift. When I was heading to the bathroom, she told me to have a good day, but I told her I would be right back. When I got back to the table, all my to go food and drink and the final bill was gone. I asked the hostess and had to wait for them to get me another drink and bring up a copy of my receipt. It would have been worth the half hour drive if the waitress hadn't been in such a rush and bussed my table while I was in the bathroom.
This used to be one of my favorites. Recently took my Dad there. He had never been. It was so disappointing. Food is very greasy. The chicken was so dry and overcooked. Seemed like it had been sitting in a warmer for hours. Couldn't eat it. Booths were old and worn out with tares all over. Place was outdated and lack luster.
This place used to be good. Hadn't been in a while because I live 30 minutes away, but decided to go for a special occasion. We were seated immediately, but it took 15 minutes for someone to get our drinks. **Several** dishes (a glass and two plates) were dirty - not like a little spot here or there, but big chunks of other people's food, like a diced tomato square and good sized bits of fried flakes. They were still wet, so I guess someone just quickly blasted *parts of them with water and sent them on. The food was so-so. The Calabash chicken was ok. The cinnamon donut holes ("rolls") were good. The rest was not so good to inedible. I won't be returning.
I ordered the pull pork sandwich the pork was pretty good but don't expect to get onion straws on it the waitress even told me she didn't think there was supposed to be onion straws they might want to learn the menu a little better. The mashed potatoes where more like instant mashed very runny looked more like grits. The tables where really run down and definitely need to be replaced.
I probably won’t be ordering from Fatz Cafe anymore. My mom made the best chicken & dumplings. When I seen that Fatz had “made from scratch” chicken & dumplings on the menu…I had to try it. Here is my $16.99 order…. I called to see if this was right or if there was a mistake. The manager that answered said it was correct and all he could say was he was sorry.
We’ve been going to Fatz for about 5 years as my dad and his lady friend live at the Retreat at Jasper. This a convenient non fast food place to stop for lunch. Typically come in on a weekday and get their lunch special cheese burger. It is nothing fancy but always get a great burger and fries served within 5 minutes of ordering. The burger is a classic diner/smash burger and always hits the spot and satisfies my crazing. We have always had great service so would recommend Fatz for those sort of classic sort of flavors.

Ordered fried green tomatoes for myself and wings for my husband, got there to pick it up and was informed they were out of wings, and forgot to call and offer something else. I waited and hour after my scheduled pick up time waiting on them to make a club sandwich and fries and a gallon of tea. Got the food home and his was fine. I couldn't eat the tomatoes and grits they are served with. We took pics and I went back the next day after work and spoke with a young man that remade my dish and it was delicious, he was the manager I guess and done his job. My problem is that this was an unnecessary waste of time and a sad way to see a restaurant we loved to visit. Don't waste your time now.
I failed to add the fact that I ordered the ribs with the dry rub. When I got home I discovered they were smeared with barbecue sauce. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!
I just wasted 31.00 and apparently interrupted the sales person personal phone time! The food was cold although I showed up 10 minutes early to pick up. The order was not complete and I had to " inconvenience " the server to make it complete. My baked potato was undercooked and cold. I'll not be doing take out with them again.
Three of us went to this restaurant for a first time visit to a Fatz. The waitress was the only pleasant thing there and it was obvious she was very new. The food was awful and not very warm. The bathrooms was filthy and had what appeared to be a roach waling around living his best life (I went after eating or I would not have stayed).
Worst food I’ve ever eaten. I’ve been to many restaurants and this is by far the worst restaurant. It was dirty when you walked in. I’ve had cafeteria food that was ten times better than what we got. I got chicken with gravy, with green beans, broccoli cheddar casserole and sweet potato casserole. And it was TERRIBLE. I would have walked out if I didn’t have any manners. My husband ordered a butter bourbon ribeye with mashed potatoes. He said the steak was ok, think Waffle House steak and eggs. It didn’t taste like butter or bourbon. The potatoes were dry. Wish the previous reviews had not been so misleading. Will never go again.
