Fantastic views of the beach. Beach access. Friendly staff. Free and semi frequent Shuttle to Jekyll club. We went on the off season (January)

This place was okay for just a spot to lay your head down. But otherwise it's kinda ... ehhhh. They have one restaurant at this location without taking a shuttle. The menu is a tad strange. They were out of a few things as well so it left the menu feeling even more like it was missing something. Warm olives = warm pitted olives in oil. Sides were small. Service was as good tho, food came fast but mashed potatoes were completely cold. We travel monthly and we have a few things that draw us to hotels. One- is valet. We like to drive our sports car every now and then and even tho I called a spoke to someone apparently that info was still incorrect. While their SISTER locations offer valet, this resort DOES NOT. Didn't sleep well knowing this after the fact. And I made sure they had in room dining service. Which they do , but if they get busy, they shut that service down. So the two things I really wanted , and verbally confirmed they had, they didn't. Big let down.

We stayed at the Jekyll Island Club Resort for three days. I was supposed to receive the third day free but they never applied the discount. We ate at the restaurant and the food was overcooked and rubbery, it has gone downhill since we were there last, it used to be excellent. Then they added a $50 charge to my bank and said it was because we used a different credit card, but that the charge wouldn't stick, it would fall off after the pending hold was up. When we checked out they put the $999 charge on my card, it is still pending, then they charged us ANOTHER $1049+, that charge went through without the pending charge removed. SO they reinstated the $50 charge that was supposed to be removed and charged us over $1000 TWICE. My account is overdrawn for the first time ever. I called them and emailed them earlier in the week about the discount not being applied and they never returned my call or email. So our discount was never applied, they charged us $50 they said they wouldn't, and they double charged us for the room. Talk about the grinch who ruined Christmas! The room had a red stain on the rug that looked like blood and the maid only showed up once. Not happy with them!

Rooms: The Hampton Inn was a nice stay.. right on the beach. The staff were very professional..

Noteworthy details: We loved the rooom layout with separate sitting area and comfortable porch that is close enough to hear the ocean at night. We appreciated the bike availability and the wonderful bike trails. Haley at the front desk was cheerful and helped set up our beach umbrella and chairs. Great breakfast omelette! Enjoyed the heated pool since it is cool outside in November. The option of eating at the Jekyll island club was appreciated. Loved the Happy Hour oysters and shrimp on the wharf.

I have been trying to reach someone since Nov. 24th in regards to charges on my credit card from this hotel. I have been given the run around on the phone and no emails have been returned. I have left messages with the accounting department as well.

The brochure lies. Half the amenities don't exist. The hot tub was out of order and has been for a long time. There is no main dining room with a breakfast buffet. The entire hotel smells funny. The shuttle seldom runs.
