I tried Jamaican Taste (Jonesboro Ga) for the very first time. The atmosphere is very welcoming when you enter. It took a while to be greeted by one of the three women behind the counter but when they did it was pleasant. I placed an order for two small oxtail dinners. The price was 26 each I’m assuming with taxes it came up to 57 dollars and change. I love oxtail so I don’t mind paying a premium price for something I like. However the food was not hitting on a thing. While waiting for my food to be dished I decided to get a tropical rhythm drink, the lady assisting me told me the price was 4 dollars, I immediately cancelled that and put it back. I’m not paying 4 dollars for a 16oz drink. On to the food! First the flimsy styrofoam box that the food was put in should be thrown away expeditiously (shout out to T.I) The dinner came as followed: rice, cabbage, plantain and oxtail. I watched as the young lady dished out the food. I want to tell you they can teach a course on food sharing. She concentrated so hard on the portion she delved out. The rice she may or may not have counted the exact grain to dish out. The cabbage was minimal (see other reviews regarding this) 2 pieces of plantain and then I watched her struggle to take out 6 pieces of oxtail and some gravy. It annoys me to watch something like that but I understand restaurants have to watch their bottom line. I got home gave my wife her plate and I sat before mine ready for some good food. The first bite of rice let me know I wasn’t going to enjoy my food. The rice was overcooked. Onto the cabbage nothing spectacular to write there, just as stated before it wasn’t enough. The plantains were cut small. Onto the oxtail, this is what killed me. There was no seasoning at all on them. I was highly disappointed. Money is hard to come by and when people spend their hard earned money at an establishment the product should be good. Now this may have been a one off occasion but from reading other reviews I see that I’m not wrong. I hope you can accept constructive criticism and hopefully improve on the things mentioned above. Unfortunately this first time patron won’t be returning.

This got to be an American Jamaican restaurant the stew chicken was bland with no Caribbean seasoning sorry…and if nobody is in the line why are they not making your plate as you order it why you have to sit around and wait damn near 8 minutes until they make the plate smh

My favorite Jamaican spot hands down. The price has gone up but the portions have definitely changed. The cabbage portions are tiny literally 1-2 bites. 2 thin slices of plantain, the rice is still a hefty portion. I got a small jerk plate with only 2 pieces of chicken. Unfortunately I will be back bc it’s just that good but won’t be coming as often.

Oxtail are beef neckbones be honest with consumers. No Gravy or anything when it was clearly asked to be added heavy. I ate it but wasn't satisfied 😕 I will not be eating here again. Very small amount of cabbage

Food Tastes great, but for $34.55. The meat on my plate was very small quantity. They really need to increase the meat portions to support there meals and cost of them.

I give it a three simply because the food is delicious very nice portions but the Mac & cheese??? Is literally noodles & shredded cheese the dumbest $7 i ever spent I could have made that myself. No seasoning on noodles & cheese whatsoever. The oxtails. For $40 I’d at least want one full oxtail with some meat on it. It’s like i paid $40 for rice & peas & a pinch of meat. That was very disappointing

Listen, I feel so bad! I went in with low expectations because I heard the food wasn't good(idk where I heard that from smh)

However,I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!
We ordered a beef patty, 2 jerk pasta pasta and a small order or Mac from the dinner special menu

The beef patty actually tasted homemade, not too crusty and very flavored

The jerk R. pasta was good. Very flavored and just enough spice.

The mac was pretty okay also.

The restaurant was well decorated, great music and vibes going and the young ladies at the counter were so friendly (not too common in Caribbean restaurants)

Definitely will be back! 10/10
