On the way to visit family for Thanksgiving in south Florida my wife is good about locating trendy eateries as this one she had heard about before. The 1980s movie " Fried Green Tomatoes " was based on this historical café which one of their specialties is Fried Green Tomatoes and you can read about that history on the outside of the establishment. . We all had the Fried Green Tomato cheeseburger with chips and canned drinks and shared a large piece of cake at the end. The servers are very friendly and if you sit at the counter they have plenty of interesting stories to tell. I would also recommend you browsing the cool gift shops that line the street that runs through the quaint little complex. They have several dinners on the menu as well that come with 2 sides that changes daily such as BBQ, catfish, fried chicken, pork chops and Rib Eye Steak.

First off, make sure you arrive hungry 🤤 If you have never been, be sure to put your name down on the book outside the door and they will call you when they have a seat available. The food is delicious and the list of side dishes is huge. Of course you have to get the fried green tomatoes to start🥰. And the service was amazing! We will go back.

We haven't been here in about 10 years. We just got the fried green tomatoes. They weren't as good as I remember, but still tasty. Get there warly though..

Well worth the 4 hour drive from Savannah. The food was amazing and the service was absolutely the best. Colby was so friendly and took the time to make us feel welcome. The town is picture perfect

My husband and I stopped in for lunch today and had a really nice experience. There is a wait, of course, (for us it was 90 min), but it went by quickly because we explored the town for a bit after we signed in. We sat at the bar, which was comfortable and had ample room for each seat. Our server (I believe her name was Leslie) was very kind and attentive. The food was outstanding! I had the blue plate special short ribs and my husband had the country fried steak. We shared the pecan cobbler for dessert (and just about licked the bowl clean). We would not hesitate to return to the Whistlestop when we are in the area again.

Just like the movie... this is the real deal! Definitely a bucket list visit. Highly recommend checking the website for open dates/times of the restaurant and shopping in the local stores while you're waiting to eat! The locals are awesome and there's so much to see!!

Great food and atmosphere! Loved the fried green tomatoes and the mushrooms! Fish and chips, chopped steak and fried chicken was our order. Colby was an amazing waiter and made us feel like family! He was the highlight of our visit!

Unfortunately they had a limited menue, due to the fall festival. I got the sliders but the marinade for the meat, had a strong vinegar taste. The fried green tomatoes were pretty good.

Like you were at the movie it self. Food was great 👍 and our server was great. The street this place is in has shops you need to walk thru. We're from SC and plane on another trip one day soon.
Prices were reasonable. There is a line, you sign in yourself on a paddle and the hostess checks it and seats accordingly. Good menu options to choose from.

Loved the food and people. I had 2 dogs with me and they had no outside seats. So I went down the road to the Juliet park to have a picnic!
