The commons has some of the rudest workers I have ever experienced in my life. I have a physical handicap that causes me to struggle lifting my arms and use a wheelchair due to weakened muscle tissue. Regularly, I got screamed at by some of the workers for struggling to reach bowls or plates when they were handing it to me. One of the workers even said to me in front of a large group of people, “just reach for the bowl already”

I live for the salad bar and it’s so disappointing when all they have set out is wilted lettuce and old spinach/spring mix. I know lettuce gets red when it’s been sitting out for a minute, but sometimes I sift through all the lettuce to try and get the freshest pieces just to find out all of it looks old.

Food has gone down a lot in quality. It causes bad Diarrhea and Stomach issues and you can see wilting lettuce, going bad fruits and more. Sometimes meats aren't fully cooked. Also they list places they don't have anymore like sushi. Food options also are kinda small but there are different options!

Vegetarian options: Salad bar, pizza place, and occasionally the highway 41 (or whatever the burger place is called) has some stuff like grilled cheese and fries.

Dietary restrictions: Almost everything contains soy. There are also signs with allergens above everything.

Parking: I think the lot is in the back of the commons because the front has a one way street.

Kid-friendliness: I guess but please don't let your kids run around in here it can be crowded and they could get hurt or knock someone over.

Wheelchair accessibility: it will be hard to get around in there but you can hypothetically use one. There are a lot of tables and chairs and people and the paths in there can be tight. (I use forearm crutches so I know it's hard for me and assume it'd be harder for wheelchair users)

They took away a lot of the healthy options, like fruits. Every other time I come in, one of the stations is closed, so there aren't that many options

The workers at The Grind are super nice, but the elderly white lady at The Stone Mill is mean to everyone.

Today, during the lunch hour rush, literally everyone at The Commons had to share tables, but a worker shooed me away from a 4-seat table because he wanted the entire table to himself :(

Today is the third time I have eaten in the dining hall and found a bug or hair in my food. I have picture proof of each time this had happened, and have it uploaded with this post. It makes me sick to my stomach when I find bugs and hair in my food, I dont even want eat anymore. I am paying a lot of money for this meal plan for low quality food that clearly isnt being handled properly. I have told employees in the commons about the bugs in my food, and I was told to get another plate. This is ridiculous and i hope something can be done about this. Im paying for this meal plan and dont feel safe eating in the commons after these recurring incidents.

They should really diversify their food selection. Some days are better than others, but overall it is average at best. If you use dining dollars it’s not too bad at around $11 but if your paying cash its closer to $15..

I had an older woman named Mercerdia who was working the sandwich counter on Thursday September 12th deny my service at 7:15 and then made a salad because no other healthy options were available. Then I se her open up the counter for someone else. This is absolutely ridiculous it costs 13 dollars to get in here the least you could do is serve food. It's also worth noting the commons closes at 9:00 P.M. and she served the person in line in front of me, and they were visibly well stocked. She just decided I wasn't able to be served apparently.

First off I want to say the employees are always awesome. Michael is awesome. I don’t know their names but the ladies who work at the salad side and the coffee side are amazing! They work hard and are the backbone of this place. I’m disappointed in the higher up part of the commons. I paid a lot of money for my meal plan and yet the commons has taken so many food options away and it is too crowded. The commons has taken away the cantaloupe, honeydew melon, Kalamata olives, plain hummus, nuts, cranberries, beets, plain herb chicken, and more. It’s so disappointing because I cannot eat a lot of foods. I have to eat really healthy due to my health issues. They’ve always had great food that I can eat but this year they’ve taken so much away. I really wish our money that we’ve spent would go towards the regular foods that have always been there and that they would work on expanding. The workers are always nice and hard working. They are great it’s just the food options being taken away is really disappointing especially for how much we pay.

Update:
I loved the commons like loved it. I thought they were making the place bigger and bringing more food options for those of us who are gluten free or lactose intolerant. Not only did they not do this but they actually took food away!! They took the whole nuts and fruit side away. They don’t have just plain chicken anymore. I spent a lot of money on this and for what? It really seems they don’t care about the students or just simply expanding but rather their own greed.

My sister has 6 dining halls on her campus and one of them is open 24 hours. It seems they don’t treat workers well and they don’t take care of the students either. Not only did they accept a bunch of students but they did not expand the dining hall at all.

Before:
I enjoy eating at the commons. Most of the staff is friendly. Thank you! Everything is wonderful!
