Yesterday my daughter and I were craving some good old southern BBQ, so we stopped by Shorty’s BBQ in Locust Grove. It’s a takeout-only spot, but the moment you pull up, that smoky aroma lets you know you’re in for something special!
We both ordered the special plate — I went with the rib tips and couldn’t even wait to take photos because they smelled so good I started eating right away. My plate came with collard greens, mac & cheese, and a warm peach cobbler for dessert. My daughter got the same plate but chose the slab of ribs, and those ribs were falling off the bone good!
We also grabbed the strawberry lemonade, which might be the best in town — you can truly taste the strawberries and the lemonade.
The food was flavorful and even though it’s takeout-only, the service and energy made it feel like home. If you’re near Locust Grove and want that real southern smoked BBQ taste done right, Shorty’s BBQ is a must-try!

Short's BBQ in Locust Grove is absolutely phenomenal! I had the smoked chicken wings and collard greens, and both were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The wings had that perfect smoky taste with just the right amount of crisp, and the collard greens were seasoned just right - some of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is welcoming, and you can tell they put a lot of care into the food. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area. I'll be back for more!

Great Southern BBQ joint. Off of Jackson Street in Locust Grove, Georgia. Excellent fresh brisket, super good tangy barbecue and uniquely tasting spicy hickory sauce. Plus they got a bunch of really cool stuff like pulled pork nachos.
I hope to return and bring everyone in the family someday.

This place is a hidden treasure. The food was delicious. The owners treated us like family. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Locust Grove and will be back to visit Shorty’s. .
We tried Shorty's yesterday. It was a great experience we met John his lovey wife and his father. The are really sweet, friendly folks. Their food potatoe salad, bbq, Mac and cheese, slaw, peach cobbler and them drinks peach tea, strawberry lemonade was some of the best ever. We will definitely go back

Customer service was A1, not very popular here in Ga so I was pleased. I ordered rib tips they were a bit chewy and there was not enough sauce (which comes separate) I’ll definitely come back for their customer service alone & give their food another try very welcoming environment, parking nice view while sitting in the sun they have fans and misters and umbrellas as well!

Got there as they was closing still was able to get anything on the menu It wasn’t very long? Before they came out with My rib tip combo within 10 minutes . It was a mixture of old meat mixed with some fresh cook meat you can tell the meat was old because it wasn’t very tender and there was a few pieces that Were I suggest that you don’t go near closing time? I’ll give them another try earlier in the day but never at closing again.
