We wanted to love it, we really did. But the flavor just wasn’t there for us. I had the salmon croquettes and my husband had the ribs. The croquettes smelled and tasted like 100% tuna. Husband’s ribs were dry/overcooked. The corn muffin was so dense, tasted like that single muffin had 2 cups of cornmeal in it. I loved the collards and okra though! But the ambiance is so great, and the staff is so nice and so great. Maybe Wednesday just isn’t the right day to go.
The food is pretty good, depends on what you like. The desserts are good. There's a wide variety too. The outside stairs and deck need to be replaced. It's just a matter of time before someone falls through.
Wheelchair accessibility: It's not wheelchair accessible.

Cakes were sold knowing they were not freshly made. I'm very disappointed!

This is a long time staple for meat and three in Macon. Fried chicken and the beef tips and rice are my faves. The sides are good, don't skip the mac and cheese! Get a dessert and pick up some fresh vegetables.

I was hoping for good food. It was 5pm. The building is actually in bad condition and about to fall down. Seemed very dark and dirty. They were already out of several items on the serving line, so that was disappointing considering it was early in the dinner service. Asked why there was no health score posted and was told they operate as a market under USDA for the half that sells produce, etc - a major red flag for me. Got a slice of pie, it was super small. No date stickers or anything. Got my plates to go. I’m sorry to say it was all VERY SUBSTANDARD and lacking in good taste. Not one item out of 9 tasted good. The salmon croquettes had a very nasty, bitter under taste. Don’t waste your time thinking the reviews are accurate. I fell for that, and knew I should’ve turned around and left when I saw the lack of customers and condition of the inside. It’s a dump -

I went here a few months ago and I wasn’t going to give a review because I thought you guys had a bad day but after reading a few of these reviews am thinking Nope this isn’t so! The food looked so delicious but it had no Taste! The bread was dry the cake was dry the cinnamon bun was dry the chicken was not seasoned and the salad was bitter am sorry but everyone who sent me there told me the food used to be good but they don’t know what happened. Honestly if I was living closer I was going to take the food back for a refund! Management definitely needs to look into this!

Restaurantji Recommends
Dawson's Kitchen used to be a great place to eat.
For what they charge and the lack of quality of they're meals I'd recommend going to eat at the Bears Den and get a quality meal.

There are plenty of options here with a nice selection of desserts to finish things off. I really wanted soulfood this particular day, so I stopped by. Everyone was very nice and welcoming, but the food was bland to me. It did not taste seasoned at all. Perhaps it was the selections I made that day. The lemonade was great though!

The macaroni is always good just need to add a bit of salt. The roast beef I got today was more like the texture of steak very tough. Also purchased a 4 count of cinnamon rolls prepackaged. When I got home I had to use a steak knife to cut them out, very very dry. The frosting was good and even heating it up it was still very dry. Just disappointing all around except of course for the macaroni! I wish people who had restaurants would actually take the time to sample their foods or have someone else sample them before selling to the public.
