Let’s Eat Review of Guitarras Mexican Grill on October 27th, 2025
There's something about good authentic Mexican Food. Whether you like spicy or something easier on the palette, nothing soothes the soul like a good chips and salsa, tacos or an enchilada. Think about it… when was the last time you had a tough day and then decided to eat Tacos and stayed in a bad mood? I’d be willing to bet never.
Guitarras has 3 physical locations and one food truck. The location I went to for this review was their first and original location at 157 Tom Hill Sr. Blvd. They opened this location 10 years ago so they’ve had plenty of time to get it right. And boy did they ever!
This place is just plain cute. It felt like I was walking into a friend's house and “Abuela” was cooking for all of us. The smell instantly took me back to one of my favorite memories in Cozumel where we ate the most fantastic restaurant that served up old style family recipes. This is a family run business that uses old style family recipes and it shows!
Fun Fact: The Corn Tortillas and Chips are made every single morning from scratch in house!
For a Monday night around 630, they were pretty busy. One of the things I always look at whenever I go into a restaurant for the first time is how busy they are. Since moving to Macon, I know a lot of Maconites don’t really go out on Monday’s but Guitarras knows how to bring everyone out! I would say over half the restaurant was seated and everyone was busy putting their Fajitas together or scooping up the salsa. I. Was. Starving.
Our server, Katherine, quickly brought us Chips and Salsa and began telling us about the menu. She was so warm and welcoming. We instantly knew this was going to be a fantastic dinner.
What We Ordered:
Chips and Salsa (free)
The freshly made chips are lite and crispy accompanied with some of the freshest salsa around. The herbs in the salsa were bold but not spicy and packed with flavor.
Chorizo Dip = $9.75
Chorizo is a savory sausage (it's not spicy despite looking like it would be with the red sauce) and the cheese is this beautiful white creamy cheese. This dip is phenomenal! Served with your choice is corn or flour tortillas. I will have dreams about this dip that will make me crave this frequently.
Carnitas = $15.49
Slow Cooked pulled pork that’s crisped right before cooking is always the way to go. Fresh cilantro, onion and tomatoes alongside home made corn tortillas and fresh sliced avocados is something that is a fun dish that you put together however you want. It’s savory and comes with your choice of Salsas on the side. Sidenote, the Green Salsa looks like a creamy avocado sauce but it’s going to QUICKLY remind you that it’s giving pepper vibes! It was really really good.
Combo Pick 3 = $14.29
I chose the Enchilada, Tamal, Avocado Salad. The Enchilada I had was chicken and it was alongside a chicken Tamal. The chicken was shredded and cooked perfectly without being dry. They were covered in a non-spicy red sauce and drizzled with sour cream. The Avocado salad was lettuce, tomato and fresh avocados covered in White Cheese. It was light, refreshing and really tasty. Served with tasty and well flavored Refried Beans and Rice was the perfect pair!
Summing it up, Guitarras is an absolutely wonderful place to go on a date night or out with the entire family. From the warm welcome, fresh meals and hospitality, this place will make a lasting impression that will surely be included in your weekly routine. Two dinners and an appetizer for two people for under $40 makes it an affordable night out as well.

One of the best in town. The jalapeno skins are my new favorite!! It may be an appetizer, but that and some guacamole makes for a great meal. So many good things on the menu. You can taste the heart in every bite!!
Alambre tacos are amazing, too!

Ive been here a handful of times and its usually great. The people are great and the food. Unfortunately, tonight I got the chicken soup as mexican chicken soup is my go to when im not feeling the best. I was very disappointed 😞 it had a off tastes and was very oily. So sadly after 15 dollars spent on soup I didnt eat I had toast for dinner.

The food was way to greasy and i couldn't eat it. I dont think I will be returning there. Although while I was waiting for my food the atmosphere there was wonderful. I really liked it.

Good food. Not too loud like so many places. We went on a Saturday and no wait. Margaritas were good but a bit light on the alcohol part. Tacos & fajitas were delicious.
Review of guitarras
Guitarras is a Mexican restaurant that feels like a little pocket of sunshine. The space bursts with color—bright tiles, hanging papel picado, and the inviting scent of grilled corn drifting through the air. From the moment you sit down, you’re greeted with a basket of warm tortilla chips and a salsa trio that ranges from mild and tangy to “are you sure you want to do this?” hot.
I started with their street-style elote: charred corn slathered in creamy mayo, cotija cheese, chili powder, and a squeeze of lime. It was messy, glorious, and absolutely worth the napkin situation. For my main dish, I went with the carne asada tacos. The beef was smoky, tender, and paired perfectly with fresh cilantro, onions, and a hint of lime. The tortillas—clearly made in-house—were soft, pillowy, and had just the right chew.
The service was fast but never rushed, and the staff had that easy warmth that makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. I finished with churros dipped in thick, spiced chocolate sauce, which was basically dessert heaven.
Casa de Sol delivers authentic flavors, a lively atmosphere, and a whole lot of heart. I’m already planning my return.
Guitarras Mexican Grill ain’t never gotta worry about me coming to eat there no more. I used to love eating at the Tom hill location. So when we went yesterday to celebrate my mom birthday on July 27th, I was utterly disappointed. We were ignored once our order was placed. The place wasn’t packed or busy they only had 5 maybe 6 tables to serve. No one was seated at the bar. The wait staff didn’t check on us at all to ask if we were enjoying our meal, if we needed anything. The food was tasteless and the chicken in the taco salad smelled like potted meat. They gave us a basket of crumbled chips but I tried my best not to complain because it was my mom’s birthday. The wait staff paid great attention to the white customers even the manager constantly walked past our table to check on the other guest. It was clear we weren’t a priority( welcomed guest ) and as I stated before eating we should go and just pay for the drinks. I was right my mom got sick from the tasteless, probably old or poorly stored food. I’ll never patronize this business again but I wanted to make my families experience known. I posted this before but they un-tagged the post!!!
I came to celebrate my birthday. It started out ok. After we got our water and drinks things went down hill fast. 3 people 1basket of broken up chips....then the waitress never came to check on our table to see if we needed anything as we waited a long time for our order. When our food finally arrived it was tasteless. But I ate it becuz I don't like wasting food. The manager never checked on us even though he passed by our table numerous times. When I got home I started feeling sick. A few hours later I ran to the bathroom and threw up all the food that I had from there. At first I felt bad about leaving a 2$ tip. But I wish we didn't give one at all. Black people don't go there! We were tho only blacks there and they basically treated us poorly 😪.

We were on the road all day, tired, hungry.
The food was amazing, we were refreshed with the taste. The server was polite and attentive. They could have check on us little more, but we are not upset. cheese quesadilla was ordered but fajita quesadilla was brought. No complains though, we loved it. Will sure to return if we are back in the area.
