We have been to the rooftop bar a few times ever since the male bartender introduced me to a Carrera de oro tequila for an Espresso martini and it was the best martini I have ever had!
Unfortunately, since I had that one, they don’t seem to have that tequila anymore.
We enjoy the music nights and we have brought friends here to introduce them to a cool spot in Macon.
Unfortunately, we came for the reggae night on 6/28/2025 and although it was definitely busy inside and out, the bartenders definitely seem frazzled. I ordered an espresso martini that came in a rock glass. I understand they didn’t have any clean glasses left. I’m fine with that but the martini itself was horrible and to be charged $30 for it was ridiculous! Every single time I’ve ordered an espresso martini here it is always approx $14. I told the not too friendly female bartender that I believe I was charged double and she said yes, I was, because that’s the only way she could put it in the system and she walked away. First off, this is NOT how you treat customers and if you are going to charge double, then you need to tell your customer first!! This was totally unacceptable!
As I stood there, waiting to question it, there were four other people around me complaining to each other about the bartenders and prices. The guy standing next to me only got half a shot because that’s all they had left with soda water and he was still charged $15 for that. By 9:30pm they were out of Corona and Mic ultra beer. I don’t know what’s going on but management needs to look into this and get some training or new bartenders that know what they are doing.
Might return for music only but definitely not drinks.

Wonderful drinks and absolutely beautiful scenery. The bar tender that made our drinks was great. However the other bar tender kept looking at us and laughing bc my husband apparently had too many questions. It was our first time there and had just discovered it so we were curious. It felt like he thought we didn’t belong there. Idk. It was a weird vibe so we left after our first drink and went elsewhere.

We were visiting from Savannah where we appreciate the outstanding bar scene in our historic district. We had read about the hotel and bar and wanted to give support.
The drinks were OK, considering they were at Brooklyn prices. The view was good. That’s where the Brooklyn comparison ends.
The service was like a poorly run McDonald’s at lunch hour. No one ever said welcome, no one asked if they could help us, no one said thank you. It was uncomfortably chaotic. Eventually, someone bothered to make a drink.
They had beautiful bar mats, but our drinks were plunked on a dirty bar top with no comment. I picked up a handful of bar mats so that when we carried our drinks out on the terrace - there was no wait staff - we could at least pretend we were in the nice bar that High Tops is pretending to be? We won’t be back.

If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. The only positive thing that happened while we were there was getting to leave. To start we ordered 3 mixed drinks and a glass prosecco. Even though we were standing right in-front of the Champagne flute, the bartender decided to pour it into a white wine glass. And when I say this prosecco was flat, I mean it was not only so flat it only bubbled every 10-15 mins(that’s me being nice), the flavor itself was so off, when we asked for another one the bartender poured a taste for herself and my boyfriend, then told us, even though it was open 2 days ago, it tasted great and nothing was wrong with it but she will pour me another glass out of the same bottle POURING HER BACKWASH INTO MY DIRTY GLASS MIXING IT WITH THE STILL FLAT PROSECCO. So we offer to pay for the entire bottle just so I can have a fresh glass and she refuses because she can’t have two open bottles at the same time, nor is she allowed to waste anything even if it’s bad. The cocktails were 85% mixer. And when the manager came out to talk to us, it was very apparent that it was our fault, and they were gracious enough to not charge us for 2 of the 3 glasses of Prosecco.(they where doing us a huge favor) And there is no way the Prosecco was bad because he carried it upstairs today. (So someone is lying) when we went to check out the smirk on the bartenders face was like she won an award. If it was up to me I wouldn’t have tipped her a penny. Don’t waste your time coming here if you actually like cocktails and care about what you’re putting into your body. And also don’t expect them to actually ring you up for the proper drinks you ordered. You’ll end up paying for your friends drinks instead. And hotel 45 if you delete my review I will repost it over and over, I didn’t deserve to drink your employee’s back wash, let alone pay for it.

Nice place to either start or end a date night. Great drinks and great view but imo I wouldn’t spend the entire date night here. Food is mostly bar snacks type of thing. Best near holiday season when Christmas lights are out.

High Tales at Hotel 45 is a fantastic spot, but the real gem of the place is Simon, the bartender. He’s not just great at mixing drinks—he’s a true master of his craft. Simon has an incredible personality that instantly makes you feel welcome, and his ability to connect with customers is unmatched. Whether it’s crafting the perfect cocktail or suggesting something new to try, Simon delivers every time with a level of professionalism and enthusiasm that keeps me coming back.
Honestly, Simon is the main reason I go to High Tales. His presence elevates the entire experience, and he creates an atmosphere that’s both fun and relaxed. If you’re looking for a bartender who’s personable, talented, and genuinely cares about his patrons, look no further than Simon. Highly recommend stopping by for a drink—he’ll make it worth your while!
I love coming to Hightales when Simon is bartending. Excellent service and attention to detail. Truly an absolute pleasure to sit at his bar.
