My family and I have been eating at Mikata Japanese Steak house for years. Our experiences had always been good until our last visit. The food didn't seem to be of the same quality. However, that wasn't the end of a bad experience. While ordering, fried rice was listed with a $2.00 up charge. No problem until the bill came and we were charged $2.25 each for our three orders. I called this to the waitress attention. She went to show the manager. When she came back the explanation was that the price on the menu hadn't been changed. There was no offer to adjust the bill. I paid the bill rather than arguing over .75 cents plus tax. Looking at other reviews this appears to be the norm at Mikata's. With the high cost of customer acquisition, it seems ludicrous to lose customers over such a practice. However, we will NEVER be back.

Good food. Service was slow and our bill was not correct. Nor was the was other party's bill that was seated with us. Overall, it was a good experience.

This is the best Japanese steakhouse in Middle, Georgia if you ask me. The staff was very welcoming and always has been since the very beginning of my visits here. I’ve spent many birthdays here And every time it’s always delicious and the service is always top-tier!!

I ordered my meal to go. It looks like something that I could have picked up from a fast food restaurant. Slightly disappointed. It was just okay, not like the Mikata’s that I’m used to. Shrimp and scallops no mushrooms. The fried rice was a bit rubbery. The scallops lacked flavor. I had to drench it in yum yum sauce. This is not a $33 plate or shall I say it shouldn’t be.

The chicken was a little dry from being overcooked, but thankfully, the flavor was very good. The vegetables were very flavorful. I appreciate that the broccoli was actually cooked and not just slightly warmed raw broccoli. This restaurant has the best tasting salad dressing and yum yum sauce by far of any other local hibachi restaurant.

With any hibachi restaurant I’ve ever been to, rice is standard and included with the meal. I’m not sure when the change was made, but they now charge $1.00 for steamed rice. Fried rice is $2.00 extra on the menu — however, on the final bill, we were charged $2.25. The steamed rice seems like an odd up-charge, especially considering rice is extremely inexpensive. Why not just raise the entire base price of the meal itself?

The menu also states dessert was included, but we were not offered any dessert.

We were a party of 5 and were charged 18% gratuity that was included on the bill. The wait service was fine, not bad. We would have probably tipped 18%, but I don’t love when it is included on the bill without notice. I’m glad we were paying attention and didn’t double tip.

Overall, we would probably come back, but I hope the management can update their menus to match the prices they are ultimately charging on the final bill. I also suggest they remove the steamed rice up-charge and discuss with servers when gratuity should be automatically applied (parties over 8) and when it does not apply. Offerings (like included dessert) should also be consistently offered or the verbiage removed from the menu.

How is it that I watched the chef cook my food and it still tasted like it had been left out all day? Tasted old and definitely doesn’t fit the price range.
