Had a taste for soul food on a Sunday and I'm new to the area. Found this spot on Google and decided to give it a try. I ordered the oxtails and rice and it came with 2 sides. The oxtails were great, the sides were typical although the Mac n cheese was just loads of cheese and a few noodles. While the food was worth the drive overall, the customer service was not. There were 2 women working, one younger and one older. The younger one was not welcoming and did not greet me nor attempt to explain the menu or give me feedback when I attempted to ask questions. There is not a posted menu with plate options or prices listed, being that this was my first visit I wasn't sure how to order and she was not helpful but in return gave me attitude as if I was interrupting whatever she was doing prior to me entering. The older lady seemed to return and see the tension but instead of stepping in to see if she could assist, she instead started being subliminal and talking rudely under her breath to the younger girl. It's a small food counter in the back of a corner store. The "hood" spots are normally great finds but unfortunately I don't spend my money where the customer service doesn't enhance the experience, black owned or not. I will not be back.

Found this spot when I wasn't even looking. I've only had them twice and I can say that the portions are a nice size and prices aren't bad. Can't wait to get back to Macon so that I can stop by and get me some food.

The young guy that was my server was so nice. Finally found it & I'm going to have to try again because this was blah. The mac & cheese had peppers in it and I'm not a fan of it. Turkey wings look good, but lacked seasoning. The cabbage and cornbread was good though. I will give it another chance though, just will go at the beginning of lunch.

The food is good. My favorite is the pork chops so far that I've tried. Green beans are amazing and I love the jiffy bread when it's available. My only complaint is I drive a good ways to see what he has because he doesn't post the menu on a regular. When I ask my sister is it posted via Facebook she usually says no and then will try to inbox for it. When u arrive some of the menu items are not ready. This has happened on more than one occasion. But they are super nice and friendly and I do recommend you go and try for yourself. They have breakfast that I hear is really good too.

This place has everything! If you want a home style southern breakfast, Sporties got you! Homemade biscuits, fresh cooked eggs, grits and a handful of meat options. If it's hearty soul food you desire, then pull up! They have fried chicken, pork chops, Ribs and smoked meats as well! If it's over stuffed, home made cheese sauce covered nachos or potatoes you want, them what are you waiting for? Run don't walk to Sportie Jays. The pictures don't do the taste or look justice, you'll just have to go see for yourself. It's located INSIDE of Shanes gas station, and is black owned.
